I brought a stand up paddle board for my bday last month and a new bbq grill tripod for cooking over direct fire.

The list was only for me and the wife. My mother wanted ideas about what to get us for Christmas, so we created an Amazon wish list and put items we could use. She is always worried about what to get us and has this weird phobia we won’t like a gift she buys us.

This is when you say don't buy us anything and we won't buy you anything. When it becomes a burden, the joy of giving people gifts disappears.

Something that I probably don't need or want and won't use.

My girl isn't intuitive. You have to tell her EXACTLY what you want. Or, you end up with a soup mug, a lamp, walking / hiking sticks, or other items that she angrily realizes I have no want for and little to no use of.

At my age I don't really need much so I'd just as soon take a weekend trip then have someone waste money on gifts for me.

I live on Sanibel Island and the power grid took a hit from a hurricane the end of Sept. I should have power though as I did all that was asked by the city. City government required that my meter be replaced and power lines inspected by an electrician. My neighbors have power. So not sure what is going on, but will eventually get this taken care of, by Christmas hopefully.
