What’s your MMA secret?

When Stephen Quadros got removed from Pride announcing, I wrote an email to his personal website, and he was really cool in his response. He said it was new management that removed him, and that he missed his buddy Bas.

And get this- Quadros actually mentioned Sherdog.com in his response in regard to MMA info that I was asking him about. As Sherbros, we are more famous than we know.

You're a Good man.

I've talked to Quadros several times as well.
Super nice guy.

He's always been probably my favourite announcer.

Very knowledgeable, Funny but not loud. Great chemistry with Bas as well.

Just the best in the biz.

... wondering if I have enough time to take another shit...
I would imagine timing a random deuce for an event 3-4 months into the future has to be one of the most challenging things to do. Imagine heading a PPV and right when they call your name the bubble guts hit? What do you say? Hold the PPV off about 10-15 minutes? That would turn Dana White into Dana Red for sure.

People who claim a fighter is a “weight bully” when said fighter makes weight are some of the dumbest fans in the sport. That’s barely a secret though

I RNC'd my mom's dog yesterday, because she was fighting with my doge. Didn't really choke her out though, because it wasn't necessary. Just needed to separate them.

I love the guy, but I'd have to get into movie talk even before MMA with him. He's been in some great ones.

If I could just jump out of the crowd an into the cage in the moment, I think I'd be fine.
It's knowing for three months that I have a fight, and having to think about it every day.
It's sitting backstage, waiting for my name to get called to walk out, wondering if I have enough time to take another shit...
It's the anticipation. And also the fear of letting down the people that love me and have helped me.
I'm not afraid to get beaten up at all. As one of the smaller guys in the gym, I get beaten up on the regular. <45>

I feel your pain. I started training in 2002 at like 12. Forced my way into the adult classes from the get go. Started competing in Judo a couple months later.

I fought 2 pro fights and 5-7 amateur (depending on what counts) my first being at the age of 16. 300+ Judo matches and maybe a 100 Sub grappling.

Never once was I not scared out of my mind.

I threw up before a majority of tournaments and fights and it never really got easier. It actually got worse.

Crowds don't even bother me. Its all the anticipation and sitting and waiting and oh fuck, if I lose.... Oh God... When is my name getting called? Why am I doing this?
Basically on repeat for hours.
I had a great win percentage. Didn't matter.

Then when I started teaching it got worse,
I was like in my very early 20s. Being that young is very hard when teaching because you always question if you're good enough.
If I lose, would people think I was a fraud?
Will the scummy BJJ gym in my town use that against me?

I'll say one thing, that's a major reason I retired from MMA competing when I was like 23.

You're not alone.

I'm really into bad movies, so "Demon Wind" and "Shock Em Dead" would be the ones I'd ask about first. He's been in a bunch of weird shit beyond those though. It's weird how he got canned though, he really was one of the best commentary guys.

Does he play a main role in those or just. Not part?

Kinda had a thing for Sara Mcmann.

<Fedor23>
I shared a sauna with her at a North Carolina women’s MMA event called like “black eye promotions” or some shit in Asheville at a rush fitness. I was helping a female gym member cut weight so I was just doing it with her and Sara was cutting for her fight. I was chatting it up with Sara for the day we were there….I was trying to slide in but she wasn’t having it lol. Super cool chick though.

Dominick Cruz’s movement was already found out when he fought Ivan Lopez at WEC 40. He had to resort to holding him down in open space to get the win. Everyone forgets this fight even exists.
Actually when he fought Brian Bowles to win the WEC belt, he won dominantly, but Bowles cracked him a good amount of times beforehand.
