What’s up with people that abuse animals? These people are a threat to society and should be treated as such.

I used to volunteer at animal shelters and I know a lot of people around the world who are involved in this kind of work. The sick shit you hear people do makes you lose hope for humanity.

We all had shitty days and we don't do take it out on animals and children bro. Man I never thought about attacking a defenseless animal or child no matter how hard I had it. In my immature youth when I was in shitty periods of my life, I thought about getting into fights, with other men. These people are psychos.
the worst I do is get depressed and ignore my pets on a bad day. I've yelled at my cats in the last few years, but they're so unused to it when I do, they sit and stare at me.

Some states are increasing penalties for animal cruelty and I fully support that. I find some of these stories sickening and inexplicable. It's worth noting also that children who harm animals often end up harming people later in life.

Abusive behaviour is a sign of some mental problems. The more helpless the victim of abuse, the worse the problems.
I totally get that some animals behave like assholes (yesterday someone's dog bit me for no reason at all), but abusing an animal is another thing.

To me, whether they’re a threat to other people is immaterial. They should be tortured and killed for hurting domesticated animals - animals who are innately trustful of humans, and look to them to care for them because we bred them to be that way.
It’s one thing if you’re hunting deer, a wild animal that instinctually avoids humans, for food. It’s a totally different thing if you abuse or otherwise hurt a completely innocent domesticated pet, which implicitly trusts you. You should be looked upon the same as a child molester.

In the Far East it is cultural.
I think a lot of it is really down to how intensive farming is but there is I think a difference between a farmer treating animals badly for farming and actually enjoying doing so.

The latter does I think tend to be a pretty clear marker for a lack of empathy although to be fair there have obviously been plenty of people who like animals but have committed violent crimes.
