What’s going on with UFC? Even the next few PPV main events are weak.

Moreno vs Pantoja is going to be an awesome fight, however many IG followers he has. He's had Moreno's number in the past and is very good. Moreno has tremendously improved since then. Don't let this one stay under the radar.
Right on. This is one of the few rematches that I support - Pantoja is up 2 fights to 0 but Moreno has improved tremendously and has the belt. I think Moreno can get it done with a late TKO.

Jones vs Stipe is the only fight in the UFC that still matters this year, who cares the rest

We all know the Apex fight night cards have gotten terrible lately (next one being the exception with Pav/Blaydes as a killer main event).

But we’ve got some shitty ppvs coming up.

1.) The next PPV main event is Aljo vs. Cejudo. Cejudo hasn’t fought in 3 years and is 36. Not a terrible main event, but weak considering the card has no other big fights. Looks like an Apex card with a low level PPV main event.

2.) UFC 289: Peña vs. Nunes: this is steaming garbage and whoever is responsible should be in Guantanamo Bay.

3.) UFC 290: Moreno vs. Pantoja. Absolute garbage for a main event. 125 + a challenger no one has ever heard of (just checked; he has 48k followers on IG lol.) Are we really supposed to think this is worth $80 lol?

4.) The “big” fight that is being held to headline some huge event is Jones vs. Stipe. This fight does have name value but it a totally uncompetitive matchup featuring a washed old man who got KTFO’d and sat out 2+ years before inexplicably being given a title fight.

This is just getting sad. I get that the UFC is a corporation and tries to cut corners and save money and all that. But it’s getting to the point where they don’t even give a shit about their PPVs these days. So many with either nobodies who we don’t care about or just totally uncompetitive squash matches. They will bring washed legends who haven’t fought in ages and throw them straight in title fights to get destroyed. We end up with like 75% of the PPVs having no “big fight feel”.

This is why monopolies are bad.

If you watch MMA for/judge an MMA card by the main event alone, you're doing "being a fan" wrong. I'm 100% sure that at least several of those cards will be, or at least include, several memorable bangers.

vote with your wallet.
if people are willing to pay for dogshit guess what they're going to continue to get served?

It's been that way for years and years. You are lucky to get a good main event. You are even more lucky to get a good main event + co main event. It's the card of the year if you recognize names on the main card.

There are just too many cards, too many fighters on the roster and not enough stars. I mean there were guys that were 10-9 and 20-10 fighting on the main card this weekend. Do we really need to see that? Guys that are 50/50 fighting on a main card and that will never amount to anything. It's just filler.

Meanwhile when UFC only had one PPV a month and a much smaller roster, every fight matter and everyone fighting were some of the best in the world. Those times are long gone because UFC has to put on so many cards for their TV deals.

For the exorbitant price of 0 euros that I’m paying, all cards are awesome value. Sucks to live in the US I guess.

I agree, not their strongest product by any means. But should mention, Moreno vs. Pantoja is not planned to be the main event of that card. Volk/Rodriguez is linked to the card and Jones/Miocic is rumored for it as well.

You are right. The cards are getting pathetic.
The UFC are pushing mediocre fighters.
this is the result of the UFC pamblett policy.
Trying to push mediocre fighters with a big mouth. now they don’t have stars who are also great fighters.
They invest in the wrong fighters.

With Charles vs Daruish falling off the next PPV, overall it’s looking rough. It would be nice for them to shift one of the Fight Night main events to the co-main.

Khamzat, Belal, Whittaker etc can't get a fight. Just weird they can't be booked onto the next 3 dog shit cards.

no matter what sport you watch, it's impossible to always have amazing events. UFC holds dozens of events every year...some will be great, some will be not-so-great.

is normal.
Name the last 3 "great" events, cards that you would drop $80 on.

The UFC is dying...in terms of lacking star power and having a bloated roster with too many events. Its much more watered down now.

Is this a UFC card? If so, it's finally happened... A full card, top to bottom, where I don't know a single fighter lol.

Roldofo last time I saw him fight he got sub'd by a blue belt after he became one of the worst gassed fighters I've ever seen. And he's a black belt

Those all look fine, honestly. The only one I don't care much to see is Jones vs Stipe.

UFC does not create many new stars.

I agree. They have more than a few future contenders (like Umar Nurmagomedov) and action fighters (Brandon Royval), but they get buried on the prelims while a loudmouth like Strickland gets to headline card after card so that everyone can see a 25 minute sparring session.

Being a good promoter doesn't mean taking popular fighters and capitalizing on their growing fame - it means taking an unknown but promising fighter and introducing him/her to the masses. But the UFC is not willing to put in that hard work - they keep going for low-hanging fruit like Greg Hardy / Paddy and hope that their "edgy" personas somehow translate into MMA success and crossover appeal. When it inevitably doesn't, UFC moves on to the next gimmick - the teenager Rosas, the Meatball Molly, etc.

Someone like Canelo or Fedor don't speak a word of English, haven't said or done anything outlandish / attention-grabbing in the media, but had the right team around them to propel them into global superstardom in their respective sports. It didn't happen overnight, but it has paid enormous dividends. UFC wants to take the easy road - take a loudmouth who won a few fights and cash in quickly, instead of investing long-term for a future payoff. Sure, it could be the fear that a fighter will become larger than the organization (like Conor did), but I feel it's less an issue of fear and more an issue of complacency.
