What’s going on with UFC? Even the next few PPV main events are weak.

We all know the Apex fight night cards have gotten terrible lately (next one being the exception with Pav/Blaydes as a killer main event).

But we’ve got some shitty ppvs coming up.

1.) The next PPV main event is Aljo vs. Cejudo. Cejudo hasn’t fought in 3 years and is 36. Not a terrible main event, but weak considering the card has no other big fights. Looks like an Apex card with a low level PPV main event.

2.) UFC 289: Peña vs. Nunes: this is steaming garbage and whoever is responsible should be in Guantanamo Bay.

3.) UFC 290: Moreno vs. Pantoja. Absolute garbage for a main event. 125 + a challenger no one has ever heard of (just checked; he has 48k followers on IG lol.) Are we really supposed to think this is worth $80 lol?

4.) The “big” fight that is being held to headline some huge event is Jones vs. Stipe. This fight does have name value but it a totally uncompetitive matchup featuring a washed old man who got KTFO’d and sat out 2+ years before inexplicably being given a title fight.

This is just getting sad. I get that the UFC is a corporation and tries to cut corners and save money and all that. But it’s getting to the point where they don’t even give a shit about their PPVs these days. So many with either nobodies who we don’t care about or just totally uncompetitive squash matches. They will bring washed legends who haven’t fought in ages and throw them straight in title fights to get destroyed. We end up with like 75% of the PPVs having no “big fight feel”.

This is why monopolies are bad.

Add to that what was supposed to be Tsarukyan-Moicano main event fight card and is now this:

MAIN CARD:
Middleweight Caio Borralho vs. Michał Oleksiejczuk
Middleweight Rodolfo Vieira vs. Cody Brundage
Women's Strawweight Emily Ducote vs. Polyana Viana
Heavyweight Marcos Rogério de Lima vs. Waldo Cortes-Acosta
Welterweight Joshua Quinlan vs. Ange Loosa
Preliminary Card (ESPN2 / ESPN+)
Heavyweight Martin Buday vs. Jake Collier
Featherweight Julian Erosa vs. Fernando Padilla
Lightweight Natan Levy vs. Pete Rodriguez
Flyweight Cody Durden vs. Charles Johnson
Women's Bantamweight Stephanie Egger vs. Irina Alekseeva
Bantamweight Brian Kelleher vs. Journey Newson
Women's Bantamweight Hailey Cowan vs. Jamey-Lyn Horth

Yeah, let's watch Barcelona-Real Madrid for the 100th time this season, that's fucking great...

Just shut the fuck up, I'm sick and tired of people complaining about weak cards and at the same time complaining about rematches, in example.

TS, its just not that bad. UFC provides so much content, there is no way they can keep every card stacked. I don't like the shenanigans the UFC has been pulling lately surrounding Title Shots at LW and WW but don't mind the Stipe TS so much (GOAT Vs GOAT maybe?) and Nunes is the GOAT WMMA fighter (yeah yeah I know...WMMA). I just don't think its that bad. As far as the Monopoly thing goes, the UFC just isn't one. There are plenty of ONE, Bellator, PFL, Rizin and LFA events availalble through different media.

I... kind of agree with TS.

And weird things have been happening.

- No news on Jones VS Stipe, when the latter is old and the first is hinting a retirement fight
- Khamzat fighting in october while his last fight was last summer
- Edwards VS Colby, controversial match making, 'nuff said
- Francis leaving
- Jiri injured and vacating the title, and then nothing on LHW championship since Hill's victory.

The waste of potential is absolutely incredible. We didn't get to see Jones VS Francis, Khamzat is an incredible part of the roster whether we like him or not, and yet he's just not fighting, the WW title scene, former crown of the UFC IMO, is suffering from Dana White's incompetence. There are things we can't control (Jiri's injury playing in a role in the LHW title situation), but this is very unsettling.

And, on the risk of being called a troll, I sincerly think that if Dana plays a role in any of that, it's honestly time for him to get the fuck out. Even if it's not the case, it is time for him to get the fuck out anyway. Enough of this guy.

Volk Vs Yair is the main, Moreno Vs Pantoja is the co-main.

no matter what sport you watch, it's impossible to always have amazing events. UFC holds dozens of events every year...some will be great, some will be not-so-great.

is normal.

some will be great? what like 2 cards a year?

its doesn't always have to be amazing it just has to not always be shit which is what they are feeding us, i see more entertaining fights outside the pub on a weekly basis

Aljo Cejudo's an interesting fight, I doubt 290 ends with Moreno Pantoja headlining. 289 though yeah that's hard to defend unless a bunch of exciting fights get added to the main card the ppv numbers will be in the hundreds. Surely Thompson Pereira isn't the co-main is it?

Tbf in terms of actual fights it's usually very good. That's the benefit of them avoiding all the good but boring fighters that they routinely pass over.

Is this a UFC card? If so, it's finally happened... A full card, top to bottom, where I don't know a single fighter lol.

1) Agree with this. Don't like Aljo since his milking the DQ against Yan. Cejudo i cannot stand, he has had his time and I wish he'd stay away.
2) Well.... i'm ok with Peña v Nunes. It ain't exactly going to compel people to book the PPV, I get it.
3) Moreno vs Panoja again isn't going to make people pay 80bucks, agreed. Moreno is a good dude though, fair play to him, hope he's making big money.
4) Jones vs Stipe -- now i DO want to see that and I think it's a bit short-sighted to call it "totally uncompetitive". It COULD be over quickly likke the Gane fight but...you're being a bit unkind to Stipe in my view.

Yup, its UFC Fight Night 233, which was supposed to be main evented by Tsarukyan vs Moicano. No word yet on what they're doing now with it.
