So Clinch, bodywork, knees, etc wouldn't be a factor?

Wrestling-wise Cain >>>> Stipe and Werdum didn't have to shoot perfect doubles to tap him.


He could've clinched Stipe and made it a grueling trench war and softened him up for the latter rounds.


Heck JDS isnt a D-1 wrestler and he took Stipe down in the fourth if I recall right.

I had no horse in this race... Ive been one of the ones hyping Stipe for a while now.


Just saying running hands down chin up isn't a good strategy specially in the HW division.

In order for werdum to use those skills he has that you mentioned he needs to get close to miocic. He's always going to get punished because of miocic is a better athlete better boxing, foot work, and speed.

Stipe hit werdum with the same right hand as miocic was moving back moments before the punch that dropped him. Miocic was going to catch him sooner or later.

Werdum came in with his chin down lol


And you dont have to be a "A-level" athlete to dominate someone in the plum, which was a very realistic possibility of happening if they clinched.

Not to mention in a 25 minute fight, relying on "athleticism" to outdo skill is pretty farfetched.

miocic is a terrible style match up for werdum like holm is for rousey ill just leave it at that.
