The entire fight, Werdum kept trying to get Overeem into his guard by either laying there or clinching and then pulling guard. Just trying to do what worked against Fedor except over and over. He was THIS scared to strike with Overeem. It literally went on the whole fight and it is cringeworthy to watch it.

Overeem will school him in a rematch.

I remember this but nah Werdum wouldn't be afraid to engage on the feet with Reem like he was in 2011 I believe??

Oh shut up. Mayhem Millers UFC run was the embarrassment, you should be ashamed of your username :P

Not true. Werdum had very effective striking that fight. The flopping was poor strategy, obviously, but he more than held his own standing. I had Werdum winning the fight, actually.

I like & respect Werdum and what he's accomplished (see my recent thread), but I'll admit butt scoot/pulling guard as an exclusive strategy in MMA is some bullshit. (it is within the rules though, and for Werdum playing to his advantage)

What's wrong with a fighter trying to get the fight to a point to use their strong traits? Now with Cordiero, this should be a different fight against AO in the future.

Fair to say Reems chin is safe against Werdum if he avoids the knees, Bisping hits harder than Werdum.

Werdum subbed Overeem, Fedor, Big Nog and Cain and KO'd Mark fucking Hunt. What an embarassment.

Go cry some more bitch.

I remember that fight. Shamefull approach by Werdum.. TS has is right to say that, but we are talking about 2011 Werdum not 2016.

Getting beat the fuck up by GSP, how embarrassing.

As far as I remember he got his ass kicked by everyone he fought and had nothing but terrible performances.

He barely even landed a punch on GSP and had a stupid smile on his face the whole fight.

Without the Uber I wouldn't be suprised if Werdum in 2016 wins the stand-up.

I guess this topic needed more birds. There is a lady in an ad on the upper right side of the screen helping you out a bit. She's making them out of paper but it's better than nothing.

werdum definitely held his own in the standup, and yet his constant flopping probably gave the impression he was losing the standup. poor strategy indeed.

i doubt he'd flop now.

He won the first round against Bisping which is something. He went on to gas out and get his shit pushed in. The CB fight was disappointing. You're right actually. Not trying to make this a Mayhem discussion, but was just stirring the shit a bit with that guy using a gif of mayhem getting axed kicked by GSP and losing to him was supposed to be embarrassing.

Thats when he started training striking more.......

Not sure who wins the next fight but yes I thought it was BS. What was even worse were the people on this board trying to argue that Werdum actually won the fight.

I read an interview with Fabricio a fews days ago from mmajunkie and he also says it was awful. And yeah, at this point he realised he was still high on his Fedor fight and had a lot of work to do. And man did that pay off.

Yup and don't forget this is 2016 Overeem as well. Not 2011 Overeem who was probably eating a horse a day back then.
