Media Weird Insecure Betas? Coaches Who Date Their Female Students

I think it's fine when the ages match up. People date who meet at bjj training it's fine. When it's professional yeah it's strange but you can change camps. Thats the risk you take dating them.

Weird insecure beta thread IMO

(also any laydeez browsing are welcome to join my gym for a free trial)

I haven't read the thread but have people considered the likelyhood the female fighters are just being smart?

Rather than paying a 20% or more cut of their fight purse to gym and coaching fees, the just date the head coach that owns the gym and train for free.

I have witnessed this first hand at numerous gyms I have trained at. Always weird to me, especially when some of the girls come in to train since they are children.

The truth is, any man who "closely-associates" with children (who are not his own), by default, should be highly-suspect. It's freaking weird. (Okay, sure, always be kind to children, but it's freaking weird for any man to always want to "be around" children as a way of life.) Doesn't mean every man who is always around children is guilty; but every last MFing one of them should be watched as a potential suspect.

Same with any man, who wants to (ahem, pardon the reference) "position himself" near young girls should be an automatic suspect as predator. Doesn't mean everyone who does this is guilty; but (again) every last MFing one of them should be watched as a potential suspect.

I won't even get into this discussion about men and "young boys" ...

Concerning the subject of this thread, ALL normal / hetero men love WOMEN, but no normal man should be (pardon the reference) "into" young girls. Yes, be kind when you deal with them, but who wants to listen to the mindless chatter of children (who aren't his own) all day? Not many, but there may be a select purist few.

As a casualty investigator for over 36 years, if ANY man creates a profession for himself, where he is able to "influence / shape" young girls / kids / pre-teens ... their motives MAY be purely helpful ... but they should be watched closely, at the very least.

.

I'm more weirded out by people like Pavel Fedotov who has trained the Shevchenkos since they were little and ended up marrying Antonina.
I swear he is married to Valentina instead. Antonina lives in a different part of the country and does her own thing. She just gave birth to a baby.

Media Members obviously selected the finer looking wmma members and were hoping for some after dinner ground and pound. This goes without saying. Cyborg wasn't exactly invited to the dinner.
Reasonable assumption
That's just weird all around

Still seems like a missed opportunity if their partners were there for the women to get their names out there; even if it would've been a bunch of fluff pieces.

I'm okay with it.
I didn't act like the women had no say in it, but the tweet does obviously critique the male aspect.

I imagine this is a focus for several reasons, but here it seems to be the fact the male partner/coach feels compelled to follow the female round constantly. That's anecdotal, but do these female fighters insist on being involved in all their coaches sessions/interviews/whatever, or is this a direct result of a gross power imbalance?

Going by info in the tweet, it's more projecting a feminist/anti-male perspective onto the situation, than actually describing anything that seems unethical.

I get that it might be annoying for the journo that some coaches didn't want their GFs to sit next (and implied not talk to them? Though not stated) to them, but that doesn't in any way, on it's own, suggest the women didn't have a say in it or didn't just agree with their BFs. You gotta remember, a lot of coaches and athletes are often not happy with how journos write about them. If the coaches wanted to guard them from that a bit, it wouldn't necessarily be any kind of misconduct towards the GFs

Just because they are just doing their job, doesn't mean they should just be completely trusted by the women and their spouses. And if their spouses are also their coaches, then they are automatically also involved in their careers, which is what the journos are interested in supposedly, so it's not like it's a boundary normally not crossed in their relationships.

Weird...Men taking advantage of women often.
Similar,....Weird....Women going after men in power or potential money.

On a personal level, I'm fine with it. They're adults, fuck who you want. The big problem is when they can't separate their romantic relationship from their professional one. I've seen many wmma fighters piss away their potential because they didn't want to leave their bf coach and it's frustrating as fuck.

It's creepy when the coach is much older imo, but not so much if they're the same age range. Ie Pat Barry and Rose = creepy but Karolina and her husband = not creepy.

Karolina and her coach weren't creepy, but I still disliked it because that guy sucked as a coach. she was much better before having her husband coach her, and she started winning again after she got a new coach.

It's usually the typical Pat Berry thing of finding a teenage girl and grooming them like the piece of shit they are. The amount of :eek::eek::eek:s and sexual assault that is tied with sports is absolutely insane. I would imagine it's one of those things where the majority of dudes who get that job get it specifically to fulfill their kink. If you love the sport go train adult dudes, if you're only training young girls then that's a massive red flag.

For the adults, it should just be a professionalism thing. Yeah if feelings develop then whatever I guess, but it's so fucking common for a female fighter to be dating the head coach. It's weird, and should be a conflict of interest. If the female fighter starts losing the husband isn't going to suggest she get a new head coach, just pretend everything is cool.

Honestly...
Idk...
Lots of downs... some ups on this point.

Some stories i remember regarding this subject:

Joanne Wood: married and i believe is on stable relationship with her former coach.
Rose Namajunas: not exactly the situation here, since they just trained at the same gym and Pat barry wasn't exactly her headcoach.
Rousey: Same thing. Browne eventually joined Edmond but wasn't her headcoach.

Now...

Viviane Pereira: Former UFC fighter who was kicked from her team after her coach discovered she was pregnant with her baby.
Ericka Almeida: Another former UFC fighter who had a relationship with her coach (which she met when she was 17. He was 38 and was also married at the time). Besides being victim of physical and verball agressions, her former coach also had a relationship issues with her sister (who was 15 at the time)
Hermes Franca: former UFC figher and also registered sex offender. The reason for the register? Abused a former student.

Anyway... It's hard to defend any of those cases, specially regarding those points mentioned above... But i honestly don't know how to actually avoid those.

Joanne wood was dating her head coach in scottland before she maried her current coach. The first one didn't go well for her career.

I really don't even care why. Consenting adults who aren't harming anyone can do whatever they want within the confines of the law.

As an MMA fan, I care because often times these BF coaches suck and are holding the fighters back in my opinion.

I'm surprised no one pointed out that this phenomenon is likely due to power being an aphrodisiac for women, and guess who is the most powerful guy in her social milieu she spends the most time in where everyone listens to and respects? Her coach!

You see the same thing with Cheerleaders and the Quarter Back, Pimps with their hoes, Secretary with the boss, etc.

I can get that POV. UFC brass probably aren't too big of fans of it either. It's certainly unprofessional. However, if I start trying to dictate what consenting adults want to do with their lives then I'm the asshole at that point. If nobody is being hurt and no laws are being broken, well,
