I think it's fine when the ages match up. People date who meet at bjj training it's fine. When it's professional yeah it's strange but you can change camps. Thats the risk you take dating them.
I have witnessed this first hand at numerous gyms I have trained at. Always weird to me, especially when some of the girls come in to train since they are children.
Rather than paying a 20% or more cut of their fight purse to gym and coaching fees, the just date the head coach that owns the gym and train for free.
absolutely. thats like the equivalent of marrying your step daughter lol. that woody allen shit.I'm more weirded out by people like Pavel Fedotov who has trained the Shevchenkos since they were little and ended up marrying Antonina.
I swear he is married to Valentina instead. Antonina lives in a different part of the country and does her own thing. She just gave birth to a baby.I'm more weirded out by people like Pavel Fedotov who has trained the Shevchenkos since they were little and ended up marrying Antonina.
Reasonable assumptionMedia Members obviously selected the finer looking wmma members and were hoping for some after dinner ground and pound. This goes without saying. Cyborg wasn't exactly invited to the dinner.
I didn't act like the women had no say in it, but the tweet does obviously critique the male aspect.
I imagine this is a focus for several reasons, but here it seems to be the fact the male partner/coach feels compelled to follow the female round constantly. That's anecdotal, but do these female fighters insist on being involved in all their coaches sessions/interviews/whatever, or is this a direct result of a gross power imbalance?
It's creepy when the coach is much older imo, but not so much if they're the same age range. Ie Pat Barry and Rose = creepy but Karolina and her husband = not creepy.
Honestly...
Idk...
Lots of downs... some ups on this point.
Some stories i remember regarding this subject:
Joanne Wood: married and i believe is on stable relationship with her former coach.
Rose Namajunas: not exactly the situation here, since they just trained at the same gym and Pat barry wasn't exactly her headcoach.
Rousey: Same thing. Browne eventually joined Edmond but wasn't her headcoach.
Now...
Viviane Pereira: Former UFC fighter who was kicked from her team after her coach discovered she was pregnant with her baby.
Ericka Almeida: Another former UFC fighter who had a relationship with her coach (which she met when she was 17. He was 38 and was also married at the time). Besides being victim of physical and verball agressions, her former coach also had a relationship issues with her sister (who was 15 at the time)
Hermes Franca: former UFC figher and also registered sex offender. The reason for the register? Abused a former student.
Anyway... It's hard to defend any of those cases, specially regarding those points mentioned above... But i honestly don't know how to actually avoid those.
I really don't even care why. Consenting adults who aren't harming anyone can do whatever they want within the confines of the law.
I can get that POV. UFC brass probably aren't too big of fans of it either. It's certainly unprofessional. However, if I start trying to dictate what consenting adults want to do with their lives then I'm the asshole at that point. If nobody is being hurt and no laws are being broken, well,As an MMA fan, I care because often times these BF coaches suck and are holding the fighters back in my opinion.
As a father of daughters i'm much more scared of you. Wtf manThe truth is, any man who "closely-associates" with children (who are not his own), by default, should be highly-suspect. It's freaking weird. (Okay, sure, always be kind to children, but it's freaking weird for any man to always want to "be around" children as a way of life.) Doesn't mean every man who is always around children is guilty; but every last MFing one of them should be watched as a potential suspect.
Same with any man, who wants to (ahem, pardon the reference) "position himself" near young girls should be an automatic suspect as predator. Doesn't mean everyone who does this is guilty; but (again) every last MFing one of them should be watched as a potential suspect.
I won't even get into this discussion about men and "young boys" ...
Concerning the subject of this thread, ALL normal / hetero men love WOMEN, but no normal man should be (pardon the reference) "into" young girls. Yes, be kind when you deal with them, but who wants to listen to the mindless chatter of children (who aren't his own) all day? Not many, but there may be a select purist few.
As a casualty investigator for over 36 years, if ANY man creates a profession for himself, where he is able to "influence / shape" young girls / kids / pre-teens ... their motives MAY be purely helpful ... but they should be watched closely, at the very least.
