Weird feeling mas is gonna wreck Usman

All the hardest hitters are ripped guys. I'm usually around 10-12% bodyfat. But sometimes I'm heavier at 13-15%, and I can tell you i definitely hit way harder while lean

Well I thought this over and you might be right for a guy like Masdival who relies much more on speed and timing than raw power. But look at a guy in Johnny Hendricks..... far from super lean(still in good shape though) and was probably the hardest hitter in his prime at WW. His raw power was way above GSP’s despite not being as lean.

Also I doubt masdival does a lot of strength training when he isn’t out of camp period. So he probably isn’t gonna gain much strength or power when he isn’t training as hard. He is probably at his best strength/power wise when he is in camp because that is mostly the only training he does.

Jorge has a chance, but it is not a very good one.. coming in on short notice against a Beast who has never lost in the UFC.

I think Jorge loses a decision but has his moments and survives before he is gassed out.

The rematch will be a better fight.

Kelvin Gastelum?

Tons of the best hitters at HW are chubby. The only reason the hardest hitters at lighter weight classes are mostly ripped is because most of the best fighters at those weight classes are ripped, for obvious reasons.

And no they are not, was George foreman godly ripped? Joe Louis? Joe Frazier? Mark Hunt? Roy Nelson? Derrick Lewis? They had a solid muscular base, with some added fat/weight combined with a fast twitch CNS system. You have a hard puncher more often than not. Doesn’t mean he will be a good fighter but he will punch hard.

The only reasons why 10-12 percent guys in mma hit the hardest usually is because it is a weight class sport. Meaning those guys that are ripped usually have much more muscle than the guys at equal or similar body weight with a much higher bodyfat. More muscle equals more size which equals a more strength potential combined with speed means you are going to be a powerful puncher.

If a guy like nganou got up to 275-285 he would hit harder guaranteed. Just it wouldn’t help his cardio much.

Strength and conditioning 101.

He had a proper camp for that fight. This is short notice. That’s literally all. I don’t question his cardio when I know he’s ready. I just wonder with short notice and Covid... is he ready

Fair point. I only ask because I've seen this mentioned elsewhere. People talking like he's got terrible cardio.

All I'm saying is for me I hit way harder being lean then heavier with higher bodyfat, overall more athletic. Who knows if those guys would hit even harder with a little less fat. Of course genetics plays the biggest role some people just hit hard, but you dont know if they would hit even harder with less fat. Masvidal looked slow as shit against Wonderboy and he looked to be higher bodyfat in that fight. Theres a reason why when pros like Canelo go up in weight they make sure they dont gain much fat(lean bulk). They stay lean while getting heavier. More explosive power

lol sherbros are worse than white girls who follow horoscopes

everytime they eat a chipotle burrito and get a weird feeling, they confuse that with psychic intuitions

i got a weird feeling about someone's mom too bro, you don't see me making a thread about it

Well the most important thing is, if it does happen, you can bump this thread for some e-cred. You gotta love these potential humble brag threads the week of the fights. Plant that seed

I have no dog in this race but not buying Masvidal hasn't been training for this exact fight for months. Him "stepping up" is in a formal rather than literal sense. He ain't rolling off the couch and into the cage.

Usman has been training for a fighter with way better TDD, ground work and sweeps...and now he's got a significantly easier opponent for his style.

Not to say mas isn't a better striker than Usman but I think Marty makes this a boring wrestling match
