Very interesting video about doping in weightlifting. They drugged kids as young as 12 in certain countries if they showed potential.

On a side note, this dude also has great technique videos.

The key takeaway here is that the IWF used third party testers like HUNADO and we now know they are compromised. USADA stepped in for IWF Worlds in Houston and got more positives than ever before because everyone assumed HUNADO was going to do the testing there.

  • IWF almost exclusively employs HUNADO
  • they carried out 77% of the tests
  • Even at worlds they used their HUNADO testers
  • EXCEPT Houston worlds 2015, which produced more positives than ever before
  • IWF planned to use HUNADO there
  • USADA was skeptical, wanted to do tests themselves
  • Travis Tygart (USADA), said it was difficult to get the authority to do the testing
  • IWF sent a letter, protesting the decision to hand over testing to USADA
  • they wanted to use “ experienced testers of HUNADO”
  • USADA checked hotel rooms, found syringes
  • USADA found 24 doping cases at once

This requires a restructuring of the sport from the top down. I say impose lifetime bans to athletes and coaches. Go compete in untested powerlifting if you need to juice. I hear Crossfit has lax testing. Any mediocre weightlifter should be able to medal there.

Let them get as big and strong as they want, however they want. Who honestly cares? They know the risks, and they're gonna do it anyway. This goes for all sports.

(This obviously does not apply for kids under 18, that's a completely different topic)
