Weidman vs Rockhold 2 is #1 BS

I don't really have a problem with it. I agree it doesn't make much sense given rockhold already seems to have one foot out of the division but winner in theory would be in line for a title shot after kelvin/whittaker.

Weidman/Costa would've made more sense but it might be best to slowly bring up guys like Costa and Israel. Have no idea who Costa could face now with most of MW booked (ariel said yesterday brunson is booked against thiago santos). maybe adesanya or anderson?

This fight at MSG nevertheless is interesting considering this rematch was a title fight that never happened back at UFC 199

Do I ever not want to ever pay money to see the USADA version of Mr. Weidmans boy fight.
"Like, hey babe, let's switch over to Bar Rescue while these guys go to a decision."
SHUT IT DOWN

Im sick and tired of these "top 5" guys fighting eachother and not giving the chance to some up and comers to climb the way up.

Guys like Paulo Costa o Israel Adesanya should be getting opportunities.

Stupid to think Weidman could be still ranked top 5 if he loses again and be 1-4 in his last 5.

And wasnt Luke moving to LHW?

Champions are not the only ones holding divisions... "contenders" are pulling the same shit too.
In fairness, Weidman shouldn’t still be top 5.

remember how everyone thought gastelum would KO chris, and then when chris choked him out all of a sudden he was a fat 170er?
I honestly think costa brutalizes Weidman.
And rockhold has the best top game at mw but some of the worst takedowns. And horrific boxing defense.

Both guys regressed a lot.

Luke honestly needs to just start pulling guard on people if he can't take them down.. I've never seen a middleweight with a ground game like him.
yeah man he frustrates me

such an octopus on the mat. why tf does he mess around with guys in boxing range? He's got those nice long body and high kicks.

Or better yet, he could tuck his fucking chin and show some humility/boxing defense

you'd think Luke could've developed a blast double or at least a decent single leg, given all the time training with DC and Cain

Or since he has so much height, maybe work a Greco game and use some trips and throws

Weidman is definitely knows for going to decision..... A whole 1 out of every 4 fights he's in goes to decision.

Luke Rockhold is also known for being a decision machine... 2 decisions in 20 fights....

Soooo between Luke and Weidman, they've gone to decision 6 times in 37 fights. Fucking boring decision machines!

If they did Weidman-Costa and Rockhold-Israel, and both Chris and Luke ended up winning y'all would be bitching about UFC matchmaking derailing prospects too.

Let them bring the two up to speed first; yes they are winning but they are still both raw as hell and aren't ready for the top 5 quite yet

Everyone is gonna beat til Chris til he beats them, then said fighter was never good or was past their prime.

Weidman sucks according to Sherdog but all the Moose, Rocksalt and Roidmero fans sure won't skip a beat to list Weidman as a great win for them.

for some reason everybody on sherdog thinks prospects need to be thrown into the top 5 immediately

this is why fighter's careers get derailed. Prospects NEED to be given long win streaks not only to build star power but to build their skill sets as they gain experience.
Disagree. I Dont think costa and Israel are going to get that much better. And a lose could help them more than being fed easier fights.
This Shit is not boxing. No need of 25-0 récords.

Also Conor wasnt ready for mendes or aldo. Jones wasnt ready for shogun. Tj wasnt ready for barao. Cody wasnt ready for Cruz .etc.

Actually perfect fight to make. Both at a pretty big cross roads and neither deserves the next title shot for sure. They have a prior fight and back story and this fight can help move 185 along....one goes back up and the other goes out to another weight class or trying out for pro hockey again.

It’s a good fight. None should get a title shot.

Cossta and Israel. Need some
Time. Get their names going. No need to
Put them against the top dogs or each other for a year +.

Such a dumb argument. "Weidman shouldn't be top 5 even though he submitted the #4 guy in his last fight and his only losses to guys in the UFC are to the #1 and #2 ranked MW's and then the Bellator champion."

Costa has zero top 10 wins. How about he fights Adensaya and the winner will enter the top 5 and get a major fight?

Your idea is why so many young talents end up evaporating. What's the point in rushing these kids when Costa showed he has obvious defensive holes in his game against Hall, and that Israel barely beat a pretty pathetic fighter before his fight against Tavares? Not to mention the fact that beating Tavares doesn't earn you a top 3-5 guy.

This is a rematch that has been in the works for awhile now, I think is quite warranted, and both Costa/Israel are not nearly as ready for either fighter as you might think.

While I agree that the rematch is warranted, I disagree that this is why "young talent is evaporating". Considering Costa and Adesanya particularly, they have both beaten decent competition and should be tested. Weidman himself was considered largely untested prior to the Silva fight, biggest names he had fought were Damian and Mark Munoz. This is the case for other big name or top 5 fighters as well.
The UFC shouldn't treat fighters like boxers, feeding talent and inflating records. At this point in both Paolo and Israel's careers, they should definitely be given the opportunity at fighting a bigger name.

All said, I think Weidman Rockhold 2 is warranted

It actually makes a lot of sense

Both guys want the title and the UFC needs to build up a legit contender as Whittaker just beat Romero twice

Whittaker also already beat jacare

He hasn't fought either guy yet

Yeah it seems like all that training with those guys gave him some of the best anti-wrestler grappling in MMA history

But never taught him how to do it himself
