Weidman vs. Cormier @ LHW - Who wins?

Also, what about the strength factor? Weidman hasnt fount anyone with the physical strength of DC or most LHW. Chael, who is a goddamn work horse was even shocked by the strength difference.

MMA doesn't work that way, its about how guys matchup. Machida summarily knocked out Rashad (the guy who summarily dominated Sonnen) and Chris had no problem handling him.

Chris is big enough and physical enough to fight at light heavyweight. He enjoys a size advantage over most middleweights now - which he would forgo - but more than anything he's a technique fighter.

I definitely think Weidman will be doing super fights up a weight class.

Have we seen what Weidman's gas tank looks like vs a strong wrestler yet?

I sure havent yet I have seen him slow down against strikers.

I don't like his chances against an even stronger wrestler than himself.

The one advantage he might have over DC is that DC isn't getting younger. So the longer this fight takes to get made ... the most likely DC will start showing signs of aging.

It's easy to look like a technique fighter when you are much bigger than your opponents and can keep walking them down and absorb their best shots so that you can turn it into a wrestling match.

Let's see if he can do the same to Luke Rockhold who is as big and isn't 37-39 years old.

I thought we were talking about DC? He got fantastically lit up by AJ, and I don't just mean the knock down. He was eating big shots as soon as the second round started. I imagine if AJ was patient and had better fight IQ, DC was going to get stopped.

Jones is by far the most rounded guy DC faced and he was able to edge him everywhere the fight went and mentally break him. Weidman is a very high fight IQ guy and is arguably the most well rounded in the sport second only to Jones.

I think its a very interesting matchup and both men have advantages.

As for the tangent about Rockhold, maybe you are right. Luke is as big and physical as they come and should be a substantial challenge. I think both Weidman and Rockhold would be successful at 205 if either wanted to move.

I think DC would win but those saying DC crushes Weidman are crazy.

The fight would go the distance.

Weidman is mentally much stronger. Moreover, cormier is a paper champion

I'd think 48-47 Weidman after DC gasses. I think at 205 without cutting weight Weidman will have the cardio advantage and likely the size advantage. He has less power but better striking, better folkstyle and freestyle wrestler, DC will be better in greco, and I give the BJJ edge to woodman as its more proven imo.
Then again I thought Crumble would beat DC.

Weidman.

Without the huge cut to 185 his gas tank would be much higher, and he is FAR more tough mentally. DC wilts.

Weidman is the far superior striker and I feel he can hold DC off with his wrestling.

similarly* I think that's what you're trying to say.

I think both Chris & Luke would endure what Ben Henderson did, and should take that route to testing the waters instead of trying to make superfights if they ever do, and even then: considering it's LHW should take it down a peg, and not fight a young hungry contender like Henderson did. Both could probably take Glover, or Bader, but all they need is one big shot to end it for them.

I don't know about Chris's gas tank improving, maybe he's just not a high paced guy. I think DC beats, if not then wrecks anybody at LHW and under not named Jon Jones. I think only Cain and maybe even then, only pre-injury Cain, beats him: if what DC said about the first time he was knocked down ever was against Rumble, ends up being true, if so, damn!

whats with muppets saying wiedman is the better striker? dc has out struck all his opponents with his hands other than AJ, he would beat wiedman standing all night.
