Weidman never proved he's better than Silva.

Silva has the greater legacy based on body of work and you can definitely make the argument that Anderson was past his prime when he faced Weidman and that he would've beat him had he been in his prime but that's an unprovable hypothetical argument. The reality is that Weidman beat the fuck out of Anderson Silva twice. That's what we know for sure.
the phrase "beating the fuck out of" is doing an insane amount of work here

Meh he beat him convincingly twice and at the same time nobody considers as a serious option in any kind of GOAT discussion. I don't really see the controversy or problem here. It's all quite clear cut.

TS has made me see the truth.

Anderson Silva failing to beat Chris Weidman was like watching a handicap kid swing at a t-ball.

Average men could do it easily.

But after multiple attempts Silva was crying, screaming and napping.

and then the ball called him a piece of shit.

it does prove that the guy who beat him is not as good as him...
How does it prove that “the guy who BEAT him is not as good as him?”
Silva may have had the better career, but Weidman owned his ass head to head.

Antonio Silva smoked Fedor yet not many peole would say he was as good as him. Well, he was that night, but thats not the debate.

I have never thought once that Weidman was a better fighter than Silva even after both losses. Chris is a real good fighter but when it comes to the GOAT MWs Anderson is at the top but Izzy may not be far behind in the end

It was crazy watching Weidman break his leg the same way Anderson did in their rematch. I mean what were the odds of that happening to him too?!

Chris tried to get so much hype from the leg break and then snapped his own shit in half years later. Funny stuff.

I wouldn’t say it was funny but it was a trip

Seriously, what are the odds he would break his leg the same way against another brotha?!?

However, I do recall Matt “Good Fuck ‘em” Serra after Silva broke his leg so maybe it is funny

It's also why Silva tried avoiding Chris for a year after he won his #1 contenders match where he murdered Munoz.
It was pretty much all risk and no reward for Silva. If Anderson had beaten Weidman he would have beaten a fighter with only 9 previous fights. It really wouldn't have added much to Silva's stock it would have seemed.

Silva knew he was supposed to retire after Sonnen 2. Anyways Chris was the better man on the nights they met. Nothing else matters.

Silva was past his prime in their first fight.
Silva lost the first fight due to showboating and not taking the fight seriously.
Silva lost the second fight due to a freak leg kick.

These three factors make Weidman's wins against Silva dubious at best.
I still contend that a focused, prime Silva circa 2010 destroys Weidman.

A dub is a dub. Can't take them off Weidman. That said it pretty clear Silva had a better career.

He proved he was better than Silva in the fight they had. The leg injury fight was a write off, not much happened.

Chris and Anderson fought for 12 and a half minutes between two bouts. In those 12 and a half minutes Weidman knocked Anderson down twice, put Anderson in two submissions, knocked Anderson unconscious, and broke Anderson's leg.

If the two bouts were one full bout, and went to decision, the scorecard would have seen two 10-8 rounds scored for Weidman due to the knockdowns and submission attempts alone.

... if that isn't a beating, I'm not sure what is.

Id say his legacy would’ve went up quite a bit if he he would’ve won so I think the reward was definitely there. Weidman was one of the most hyped prospects ever and was seen as Silva’s biggest test in years.
