We Laughed At Jose Aldo

when he refused to take the McGregor rematch on short-notice, and McGregor was subsequently choked out by Nate Diaz.

So, it is 100% fair to laugh at McGregor for turning down Khabib on short-notice, especially since he has been Twitting that he was "staying ready" and "feeling strong."

People also forget that Aldo was knocked out and when you get knocked out, it's not the wisest choice to take a short notice fight like 2-3 months after your loss.

He wanted to be 100% healthy in a rematch with Conor. I for one don't see why people were shitting on Aldo, I mean, he'd been there and done that several times, he's been champion, if he doesn't want a fight and wants time off, then so be it.

McGregor on the other hand is ready and fully capable of saving a PPV card, but I'm sure he along with Tony and several others want nothing to do with Khabib in the cage.

Aldo rightfully refused the fight because it wasn't for the title.

Except Aldo didn't make the UFC hundreds of millions.

When you make your employer 20x more than everyone else and every time you fight there's 20x more money on the line everything changes. To say Aldo's situation is the same as Conor's is like saying betting 5 bucks is the same as betting 500 or stealing 100 bucks in the same as stealing 10k.

It's not.
Stealing is stealing regardless of amount.

In fact you get less time for stealing millions (white collar crime) then you do for stealing hundreds (regular crime).

Stealing $5 mil is embezzlement. Stealing $250 from a gas station is robbery.

Um...no.
You get more time for 'robbery' because it involves a weapon and violence.

Robbery with a weapon is armed robbery.

Saying give me the money or even slipping someone a note saying give me the money is still robbery.

2 different charges

Aldo was offered the fight and turned it down
Conor was never offered the fight

I think it is anything under $1000 is a misdemeanor. Anything above is a felony which is way worse. Which is why a lot of credit card fraud is below that because banks will write it off and the police wont really go look that hard for the person.

its the other way around amigo
No it's not. It's multiple reasons.

The people who steak millions of dollars can afford a good legal defense who works out a decent deal. Average time 2-4 years federally but I've seen people get sentenced to 2 years house arrest and 2 million dollar forfeiture for stealing $7 million.

The average guy who robs a gas station without a weapon is looking at about 5 years at 50% of time plus parole for first time offender. These type of guys can't afford a good legal defense.

I should also mention I'm a paralegal in a criminal defense firm.
