Watch your body language people

I think most of this is complete bullshit. Some of it is definitely true, but you can often do it without any real meaning. That means it more or less means nothing. I know myself and many people I know do these things all the time. 90% of the time, it means absolutely nothing.

The one I found the most weird is the leaning away from someone you don't like or towards someone you do like. I don't know, but I've always preferred leaning to my right side. Does that mean if someone sits to my left, and I don't lean towards them I dislike them?

The context was if you are directly interacting with someone.

Step up your empirical knowledge skills kid.
 
I wouldn't always avoid these, just be conscious of the impression you might be giving off.

Breaking rapport can be useful too. You don't have to be friendly all the time with everyone around you.

These are basic rules with contextual exceptions. You don't need to be on edge and paranoid about them, but it's not a bad idea to be aware of general bad mannerism habits in case you are/have been sending the wrong signals in professional and/or personal settings. That way you can choose to change them if find you need to, which are impossible to change if you weren't aware of them in the first place.

It's just like shaking hands. Does the "limp fish handshaker" always prove to be a slimeball without exceptions? OF course not, but you want to avoid doing that, because of the signal it tends to send, and it has no positive aspects (no practical advantages of doing it, and plenty of reasons not to)
 
Who carries coffee cups at their sides? Good luck not spilling it.
 
I honestly don't notice people's body language or try to decipher it. Unless I'm at a bar and a girl is spreading her legs and my eyes are sucking my head closer and closer like a spaceship being tractor beamed in by the mothership
 
I have pretty chill body language overall, except i get to close to someones face often
 
You hold the mug in front-ish of the bicep of that same arm. Totally normal. Not in front of the center of your chest. That's what they're suggesting

sometimes I am constantly shifting my bodyweight at work, hitting my foot with my other foot. and i do feel nervous usually when I do that so no surprise thats correct
 
lol I usually lean away from people I like, and lean towards the opposite I think. I also get uncomfortable easy when people stand too close to me
 
I will keep my coffee mug behind my back from now on.

Most people are so self absorbed and wrapped in there own faulty body language that it cancels out yours.....the most important thing IMO it to stand tall, (good posture) and maintain eye contact while communicating.....like we all do on Sherdog.
