The Washington Post corrected an article by Meagan Flynn which sourced a post from satirical website ClickHole following mockery online.

The article, which reported on attempts to push Green Day’s song “American Idiot” into the British charts ahead of President Trump’s arrival, claimed Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong had written an article for ClickHole about his song.

After users online pointed out that ClickHole is a satirical website owned by the Onion, the Washington Post corrected their article and issued a statement.

The correction reads: “Editor’s note: A previous version of this report included information about the meaning of ‘American Idiot’ that was attributed to a Clickhole.com article,” the Washington Post declared. “Clickhole.com is a satire site. The information has been removed from the story.”

Another WAPO Fuckup...

You say it's fake news because it doesnt FIT your NARRATIVE

So this means, I presume, that we shouldn't believe anything negative that they say about Trump? These threads, picking out one example of the MSM getting something wrong and generalizing that they get everything wrong, are usually for that purpose.

The Washington Post have gotten MANY stories wrong and have had to issue many retractions (none that favor Trump BTW). But i guess we should never question anything corporate media tells us unless their name is Fox because outside of them, no one hires biased journalists who report on stories with agendas...just doesn't happen.

maybe they should write their own story instead of stealing from another publication?

OP...the story is true....not fake.

Now they apologized for using a satirical site that defined what American idiot meant....however the uk is actually doing this...unlike you are trying to portray, as if its random made bullshit.

Like a true news website they apologized.....info wars and various other bullshit alt right sites post hardcore fake shit.

Stop being an American idiot, OP

For now on any story about Trump from the MSM is wrong.

I think it is unreasonable to treat every news story as false from most outlets, especially major outlets. But mainstream journalism makes a lot of mistakes. I think part of this is due to many of these sites having financial difficulty. They simply don't have the resources on hand that they used to. Bias is another problem; it is noteworthy that this kind of mistake almost always happens in one direction.

These guys have worked long and hard to earn the reputation for being unreliable hacks. I don't think we should take that from them lightly.

Well there it is, since the press is not perfect, just ignore it from now on.

Imagine hating Trump so much that you would bring this Shitty-Ass-Song back from the dead and listen to it over and over and over again ONLY for the purpose of trying to get it up the charts.

Yeah. Pass.
