Was UFC better 10 years ago?

Except Weidman was winning every moment of both fights. Did you forget Weidman dropping him with strikes in the first round?

First fight even before the KO Weidman was catching him clean on the chin multiple tines. The reason Silva looked like he was goofing off is because nothing else was working. He was trying to win the mental game.

Thank you, people only remembering the endings strongly discredits Weidman. I think it’s personal feelings toward him and Silva.

I remember Weidman thoroughly winning the second fight before the finish. Silva was never remotely competitive and the injury seemed like more of a convenient excuse for people to give as to why he lost. Truth is, all the respect in the world to Silva, but he was getting his ass kicked. It happens. Still a fan and his legacy is still immortalized.

Better wrestler sure, not better fighter- your claims are unfounded. Again, being in a leadership role doesn’t automatically mean you’re the best. It’s about how you interact with people. I feel like you don’t have much real world experience.
LOL
you are so dishonest, that it's funny.
No one said that because he was the team captain, he was the better fighter.

But his accomplishments in the Olympics added him being a 2 division champion AND in his Gym shows.
The only reason you don't admit is because your hate surpass your logic.

You’re all over the place durd… Now you’re saying you never said what you said. You realise that you can just scroll up and see your comments? I’m not your missus you can’t tell me what’s what

Hateful of what as well? Hateful of DC? He’s one of my favourite fighters of all time… You’re showing a lot of emotion for what’s actually being discussed here.

Champ vs Champ

Fly - DJ v Pantoja DJ 50 45s
BW - Barao v Omalley - Good fight
FW - Prime Aldo v current Volk - great fight
LW - Islam v Bendo/Pettis. Islam 50 45s
WW - GSP. V Edward's GSP wins but close.
MW - Weidman/Anderson v Strickland. Weidman but close Anderson 1-2rd ko
LHW - Bones v Alex Bones sub rd 1
HW - Cain v Aspinal/Bones. Cain anyway way he wants vs either.

I got it 5 definitely for 2013 with 2-3 toss ups. 1 definitely for 2023.

Has the UFC gone down this much the last 10 years in talent level or is this not an accurate comparison?

Only one I can't get behind is Aspinal/Cain. I think it's a very tough match up for Cain and Aspinal TKO's him inside 2 rounds. Jones vs Cain would be interesting.

A lot of the guys from that era are still around

Cain wouldn’t make it the octagon to fight Jones due to injury

Hell yes we and the big three back then

Jones
Silva
Gsp

Even though Silva and gsp have been surpassed their goat status was pretty reputable and Jon Jones was more like LeBron in his youth, he wasn't widely considered a goat until he beat comroer the first time but he was thought to be the absolute penicical of mma and was treated like a future goat, no one ever thought he would lose and he still hasn't.

Now mind you 2013 was the year the big three arguably lost. Anderson Silva was dethroned by Chris Weidman Robert the biggest upset in mma history and People thought Gus beat Jon and Hendricks beat sp even though they both got the decision.

Back in those days you had monsters lurking in the ufc. Crazy knocks out fighters roided up, the divisions were deep as shit. If you weren't a fan back then you wouldn't understand. Cain beating tf out of dos santos. Damn man.

Don't try to project, kid.
You are the one desperately trying to change topics.
Now you love DC but think he loses to Cain <Lmaoo> (BTW, claiming to love someone you bash is an old trick and no one falls for it anymore)
if you don't like the fact reality gets in your way, I suggest going somewhere else, so your sensibilities are not offended.

Volk is just a speciman that can make 145 and a guy like that only gets created every so often

Islam is leagues above in terms of skill

The rest lose the 10yr clan
Leagues above makes you sound dumb, bro. He's clearly not

You seem unhinged honestly. Maybe go easy on the drink over new year

Name one thing you enjoy more now than you did 10 years ago, other than going to bed early? (Depending on your age lol)

No.... I reckon we're talking about Prime versus Prime, and I am sorry, but Jon obliterates Cain!!
Okay , but the topic wasn't comparing prime v prime it was then v now. So it would be Cain 2013. V Bones 2023. That match up I believe Cain beats him rather easily. If it was prime v Prime then I see Bones being the favorite but imo could go either way.

A Jones stan talking about willingly blind… bet you thought he beat Reyes too?

Cain was better than DC. The only guy who gives prime Cain a fight is prime Fedor and even then the fans are divided who takes it.
No one is  willingly blind around Jon, not when his fingers are going everywhere

Just my opinions..

Mighty Mouse vs. Pantoja - Mighty Mouse 50-45’s Pantoja. He’s the flyweight GOAT for a reason.

Barao vs. O’Malley - O’Malley TKO’s Barao.

Aldo vs. Volk - This is actually very hard for me.. Aldo at his very best was as elite as they come, but Volk at his best is in the same boat. I’d pick Volk by a very close decision. I could even see it being controversial.

Pettis/Bendo vs. Islam - Islam destroys Pettis IMO. I don’t think it would be close. Bendo would be more competitive because he was good at making fights close, but Islam I’d say.

GSP vs. Edwards - GSP decisions him, but Edwards may take a round or two. He has good defensive wrestling, but GSP does what he does.

Silva/Weidman vs. Strickland - Silva KO’s Strickland. I don’t think Strickland’s pressure would get to him, and if anything it would help Silva set up for that finish because as we know, “his precision is very precise.” Weidman wins as well. He may have fallen off a cliff, but people forget how legit he was back in the day. His wins over Lyoto and Belfort shouldn’t be overlooked, and regardless on whether you think his two wins over Silva were a fluke, IIRC the second fight he was looking fantastic before the injury anyway. I don’t think he got the credit he deserved because he was a bit smug and his decline was rough.

Jones vs. Pereira - Huge Pereira fan, but Jones is gonna Jones. If he decided to stand with him for 5 rounds, it may be a different story though. Still, gotta pick Jones.

Velasquez vs. Jones - hard to say, don’t really know how Jones actually is these days. His fight with Gane was so fast. Need more data because he didn’t look very fast in that minute.
Almost my thoughts perfectly, sherbro

GSP dominates Edwards.
Pettis vs Islam is interesting, Pettis was tricky off his back and could kick your head off.
Agreed on the rest of your picks.
Pettis doesn’t have the grit to beat Islam imo

No one has won better and for longer than Jones. He's not my favorite fighter but people saying anyone would beat him....I don't know......

I think the Silva fanbase is more prone to being removed from reality than most, the whole hype around "the matrix" was so extreme you had people living in a fantasy world, Sherdog has never been crazier than the aftermath of those two loses. Reality though is he was either finished by Weidman or in serious trouble against him 4 rounds in a row, how exactly can that be a "fluke"?

Personally I think the matrix hype was a good cover for Silva being on the decline before that, it became that if someone hit him he "let them" and the fights became as much mental showdowns as anything. Peak Silva was IMHO actually pre Matrix, when he was beating Franklin and Hendo.
