100% Gane went for a leglock IMO. The knee popping up into the centre to try to isolate the leg is a giveaway. Its just that Gane still had the bloody left side underhook and still went for it, which effectively pulled Francis up on him giving him a sweep. There really wasn't a sweep there for Ngannou thus I don't think anything was initiated by Ngannou, it seemed to me like a poorly attempted leg attack initiated by Gane which had him end up on his back with no way to re-sweep.
There was no sweep there until Gane tried (poorly) to isolate the leg and attempt a leg attack of some kind. At least that's how I saw it
Horrible fight IQ
You are 100% incorrect
going for leglock how, with his wrist controlled like that?
For all you grappling noobs who think it was a failed leglock attempt instead of a sweep;
- TAKE NOTE OF THE GRIPS.
- TAKE NOTE THAT FRANCIS LEG IS TOO FAR PAST THE ARMPIT FOR ANYTHING
- TURN COMMENTARY OFF
