Media Was Gane really going for the leglock or did he got sweep ?

Scissor sweep timed perfectly when Gane base was too narrow.

the fact that Gane may have been going for leg lock - before or after, doesn’t matter - doesn’t change the fact it’s a sweep.

also, those who are calling this butterfly sweep instead of scissor don’t know jiu jitsu, other than what they hear on TV

It does matter ,in the case Gane go for leglock before the sweep he can counter ,or no

gane sucks so much in his grappling lmao, thats europe's biggest weakness how the fuck do you lose a grappling match with ngannou

Ask Stipe lol

This. There were no butterfly hooks in.

To be fair, possibly a lot of the guys Francis dim mak’d would have to, but Francis hardly engaged on the ground and just stood back up.

He doesn't lose the position if he doesn't go for the heel hook.

Worst figh IQ moment since even shooting on a wobbled Izzy or Weidman wheelkick vs Rockhodl

Watching closely it looks like Gane was trying to advance the position but black belt ngannou was With the overhook butterfly swept him and then Gane went for the submission because he lose the position

Yeajh he got scisor swept, for bothing. He was going to win the fight without that stupid sweep. Unfortunate...

Yes he's vulnerable in the grappling department we clearly saw that yesterday. But there are not many people who can close the distance though.

That's such a noob take. He got up in 3rd and 4th rounds but 5th round frank just handcuffed him and rode the round out. Frank wasn't advancing position or throwing any strikes whatsoever just trying to put his freakishly large and strong weight on gane and control most of the round. Gane showed plenty in the grappling department and that kimura was closer than most pople think but frank is too strong.

Tldr got to his feet in 2/3 rounds and had 2 close sub attempts against the biggest and strongest HW in MMA that was literally trying to hold him down and do nothing else.
It's not a noob tale. Gane has poor grappling, but why is that such a surprise? He's the best HW on his feet, why does it surprise you that he has a weakness?

both. ngannou was looking for an opportunity to sweep (you can see him trying to catch gane’s leg with his instep to throw off gane’s balance and sweep) & gane jumped for the leg lock. ngannou was anticipating and gane miscalculated

I don't he was going for a leglock in that moment and he got swept.

Wow good call. Makes me think twice about the fight. Now you gotta ask yourself why he went for the TD in the first place
Same answer as before, actually. Either way, he showed very questionable fight IQ.

Both, just by his knees positions before the sweep you can tell he was setting something up instead of securing position, Francis took advantage of it, he did the same thing earlier in the fight, instead of defending the TD he went for a Kimura, Francis recognized it and changed the direction of the TD and was able to complete it.

Truly a bizarre fight
Dude Francis has been training with Usman and his grappling looked great last night man. He didn't GnP a lot but I think that will come with experience plus his knee was blown out he had to play it safe to get the decision.

I thought it was a sweep live.

Think Usman did as well.

Ngannou is going for a sweep but Gane decided to go for a leglock from what I see. It was a big brainfart IMO and he will learn from this. Great fight and I think these two will be very competitive with one another for the next few years.

No idiot, the sweep is all that matters

Whether Gane was going for leglock before or after doesn’t

why you ask?

cuz the result.

If leglock was successful Gane would be champ. Instead he ended up on bottom and everyone is talking about how he fucked up.

make sense?
