Was Conor the victim of his own success or was he always that way????

Just curious what people think about this.

I loved the guy prior to the buildup against Khabib. His shit talkinghad purpose in those early days.
After he fought Floyd, it felt like he lost something, and became consumed by the money, fame, etc.

So, do you think he was always this ugly human being, or was he changed?
McGregor quit his well paying plumber job because it was too difficult. While his girlfriend was working full time he was playing video games. Since mooching off his working girlfriend wasn't enough for him, he also got on welfare so he could mooch off the government. He tried to spin his pathetic past as a sympathetic poor man struggle when in reality he was the bum he accused other fighters of being. When he was on TUF he repeatedly talked about how important loyalty was for him, meanwhile he was cheating on the aforementioned girlfriend before ever becoming UFC champion.

All of this took place and was public information years before the Mayweather fight, so I don't understand why you think that moment was a turning point for his character and morality given that he was ALWAYS a despicable human being.

His low character was shown when things didnt go his way.

He was a brilliant risk taker when he was on the comeup and had that momentum behind him.

His whole act was coming apart as time went on. Conor was definitely an asshole prior to beating Jose Aldo but the guy had charisma and you could say McGregor was doing it to play mind games/hype up the fight. Conor also partied and potentially slept with other women as videos of his lifestyle started to surface online.

What the Mayweather fight took from him was his dignity / self-respect in exchange for money. Once you go down that road there's no coming back. He's just looking for the next big paycheck

He was always a cunt

And if we're honest, bar a few lines his shit talk was always poor. People just lap it up more when it's coming from a winning fighter. Once he started losing regularly people gave his weak shit talk less of a free pass.

When he was winning, the goobers on here who parroted the "rent free" mantra on here for years would clap like performing seals if he said "milk milk lemonade" and pretend it was the most amazing smack talk ever.

Once you start losing, people became less accepting of his crap.

I don't believe in the statement that money reveal who you truly are, because all of us have the potencial to become bad if we don't watch ourselves

and if you're religious you already know that because we are "born in sin"

but I agree that money can increase what you have inside, for example, if someone has a addiction (or a tendency for) maybe if this person get money, he will get the means to put himself in a really bad spot, so sometimes money can be a disgrace for the person

Yup, this. And drugs defintely change a person,

Though I don't agree with the religious part fully. It really depends on the religion.

he was succesful because he did alot of hardwork
all the pain and suffering he endured when he was still a nobody

i dont even think having millions in your bank account is a defininition of being a victim
people only have 1 life
if hes enjoying his life
hes no way a victim lol

Money always brings out the true face of people, sometimes good sometimes bad. Seen it all too many times irl.

He wasn't poor, tbh. In retrospect he was always limited - never gonna be an all time great because of his shortcomings @ gas tank, weakness to wrestlers & grapplers, and anybody with a chin and staying power.

But he did have fantastic timing, and, the ability to draw people in by using strange (at the time) movement, surprising movement; kicks and stance adjustments to goad them into striking first so he could counter. Very sneaky. Sneaky rapist.

There is nary a corrupting force like the worship of Mammon.
If money is your goal, you will be corrupted by its touch. That which made you what you are will subside, your ego grows, and you lose the warrior that got you to the top.

Tale as old as time.

That's just talking about the money/power/fighting talent thing.

If you're a rapist piece of shit, you've probably always been a rapist piece of shit.

Very sneaky. Sneaky rapist.
<lol>
The funniest thing is that calling Conor a rapist can never be considered fighter bashing.

And drugs defintely change a person,
Cocaine is an absolutely ruinous substance when it comes to personality changes and amplifications in people.

I think you misread my post.

He was always a POS, I would say he showed his true colors when he got rich but he probably did all the shitty stuff on his way up.

He lost focus and went on a downward spiral. I think relative lack of discipline during a key point in his career was the fundamental issue.

He was always a disrespectful wanker. He just wasn't enabled by FU money yet and hadn't lost his situational awareness due to drug addiction yet. He used to at least pretend to be a decent chap from time to time.

There is no doubt after Mayweather he changed.

Before that he seemed pretty humble with what MMA/UFC was doing for him. Seemed very grateful for not being a plumber anymore.

Then you get that kind of money at that age and all the doors it opens it messes with a lot of athletes through out history.
