Was Cheers a good show?

It's very good, but not great.

Coach for Woody was a fairly even swap

Diane for Rebecca worked ok for a while (partly because her love interest Robin was good).
But after a while Kirstie got to be annoying as hell and the stories with her and Sam became rancid and unwatchable.

Went through the whole lot a couple of years back, off the back of my love of Frasier.

True, it's hugely dated, but I really liked it. As with all US shows, the quality dropped off significantly in the second half of its run, but that's always going to be the case when you have that many episodes.

I never knew about Coach before I watched it from the start. He's a legend. As Mike says above though, Woody was a capable replacement.

As a Frasier fan, it was great seeing more of Lilith, too. She and Frasier were brilliant in Cheers.

I got through Season 1 and most of Season 2. I'm not impressed. I remember my mom, stepdad and their friends loving the show. I even thought it was okay when I was a kid, but now , I think it's crap. Does it get better? Should I keep watching?
Kinda of off-topic... but look for Frasier's show Stars show. It's titled Boss. It's a drama about a very crooked politician.

Yes, its one of the all time greats. But it got better with Woody Boyd replacing Coach and Diane leaving.

It was a great show at the time- If you're used to bukkake and ghey porn, you probably won't find Cheers all that good.

WTF is with that sig?

It's a bit like MASH. Good, but if you weren't watching it at the time it came out, you'll be scratching your head about why it's as highly praised as it is.

Cheers wouldn't last a week in today's standards.
The concept of people sitting around the bar talking and telling one liners isn't exactly ground breaking material.

The Office did just fine.

Your analysis is idiotic.

I don't even need to rattle off a list of the garbage on television today to counter it. It's common knowledge.
