Was Butterbean Legit?

lol, that KO was so fuckin brutal. I remember being so excited for that fight. I thought Bart Gunn actually stood a chance.

Gunn was punished because he ruin the plain to push William. They choice a real fighter

Worth mentioning that a super skinny Rampage was on Jackass sometime in Season 3 [circa 2001]. He actually says "you aren't a striker, so you probably wanna go for the takedown"

Musta been before he got all thick solid and tight and his ego blew up.

For all the critics of Butterbean, I thought he looked very respectable against Larry Holmes in Holmes last fight. It went the whole 12 rounds, Butterbean showed a decent gas tank, and was winging hard punches the whole time.

King of the four rounders.

He was legit, in a freakshow sort of way.

Butterbean was more legitimate as a mixed martial artist than he ever was as a boxer. He doesn't have a single reputable win as a boxer, and while he never beat a true contender in mma, he had some decent wins. The same could be said about his short stint in K-1 seeing as he KO'd Fujimoto in his debut.

He was never taken seriously as a boxer, and in a lot of ways he really shouldn't have.

Holmes was in his 50's and dominated The Bean. The fight was also a 10 rounder, so your memory of the event might be more than a bit cloudy.

Butterbean's overhand right on Bart Gunna was brutal...Brawl For All, FTW!!!

Considering he started MMA as a 400lb 40 year old with no grappling experience he didn't put together a bad record and made some attempt to learn a few subs and drop a few lbs at one point, I think he did well for himself all things considering.

You imagine most guys at 400lbs would just get massacred due to lack of mobility and cardio.

I wish he and Hunt would of fought in 2006.

I remember that. It was Ryan Dunn had that match against the female Asian fighter and she fucked him up.

Rampage was Dunn's "trainer"

he's the master of the 4-rounders in boxing. even fought larry holmes one time and he's been in a lot of boxing video games. but in mma? nope.

I love choosing Isaac Frost in FNC and brutalizing Butterbean for 12 rounds.

Bean's a tough guy, but the 4 rounds was a gimmick, so Bean had enough time to either knock someone out or decision them before he gasses.

Yeah that's the one, I'm gonna try get screen caps because I can't find a single pic or video of it and I think seeing a skinny rampage is of interest.

He may have been the hardest puncher in Boxing for a couple years.

I like how that Sean Oheir (sp?) dude kind of dies in Butterbean's arms at PRIDE 34.
