He deserved? No
Would we see something similar happening again? Probably not.

He deserved? No... But things were kinda aligned for that to happen. Like said before, most of the best HW at the time were in other orgs like Affliction, DREAM or Strikeforce. So he had an opportunity (specially against 40+ old Randy Couture who had just beat Sylvia) and got it. The rest is history.

Would we see something similar happening again? Probably not: The sport changed a lot these days and even though we had guys like Pereira rushing through a title shot, i really doubt we will have guys from other sports coming and getting TS with few mma experience. Basically don't expect guys like Rico Verhoeven or Gable Stevenson jumping straight to title shots
Overall... the close situation that could be related to Brock's TS recently... Is probably Kai Asakura getting a TS right into his UFC debut. Kai had a whole MMA career, being a RIZIN champion also.
