Was BJ Penn's back mount technique already discussed?

Not sure if there is a thread about it already, but BJ's back mount is unorthodox to say the least, instead of hooking in he crosses his feet around the waist. In my opinion this allowed Fitch to turn in to him twice.

Bad technique or is BJ trying to set something up?
