Hot Take Why does Sherdog do everything possible to run off users?

I've been on here 20 years and this is the worst it's been. I'm probably just going to get a paid account. It's the least I could do for all the entertanment this damn site and it's users has given me over the years.

i respect this take but i'll not pay for anything not necessary: if i cannot get it for free i just quit it.

Sherdog has come a very long way. It’s fight finder directory was one of the greatest online accessories to this sport since its inception, but the social element was absolutely impossible, at least for me, to even hold an account with for more than 48 hours before being banned for saying something critical of the ufc, or a fighter. While the ads are annoying and it’s early governance repugnant, I’m glad sherdog is getting paid. I don’t know how they sell advertising to a women’s tights company, or half these advertisers, as I don’t see their audience present, but I don’t understand much about website ad money, how many financially lucrative structures operate in this world so successfully, or punctuation apparently.
Happy to verify my humanity to robots to be here and enjoy the ironic advertising. It’s a pleasure to be able to post free thoughts and not have my ip turned to scorched meta-earth for it.

I would assume the planned upgrade is (hopefully) part of the effort to fix the issues.

Nah, the planned upgrade is an excuse to further degrade user experience. Probably going to introduce full page ED popups in every thirsty WMMA thread and sports gambling ads on every robbery thread. Either that or AI mods.

I am shocked people actually use this website without having popup blockers.

Never have any issues with popups but I use the Brave browser on my cell phone and I have adblock on my desktop.

If I didn't have these things, there is no chance I would come to this site.

I'd been thinking about making the mobile change to Brave. I used to be pretty unbothered by ads in my browsing, but the state of ads just get worse and worse. How's the user interface? And were you able to transfer your history/passwords/etc?

I don't recall transferring anything but the majority of my browsing is done on my computer anyway. The only website I use on my phone that has login credentials that isn't an app is Sherdog. There is nothing I would have lost that I would care about. I would say just get the app and see what you can do with it before you get rid of or stop using whatever browser you're currently using. From what google says, you can transfer all that stuff from one browser over to Brave.}

It's a pretty basic interface but you don't need to get any addons or extensions for it to just block the majority of popups and ads. Once I switched over, I never looked back. Chrome and Edge just don't cut it.
