warrior gear at spencer gifts

There will always be boutique brands. It's the same in music, you have brands like Fender, Gibson and other giants but they aren't the best. Some of the boutique brands blow the big guys out of the water. Bigger better know names aren't always the best but Sprawl is an exception, they are one of the best. I just hope they are able to keep the quality and service at the level it's at now.

i agree--- id be gutted if sprawl was turning out century quality style products

Im sure these mma brands are making trying to increase brand recognition and have increase of sales...But I think its hurting their brand name and image by being in stores like those.

I'm kinda glad to see them there, I was about to buy the Sinister Anderson Silva shirt for $20.00 at Specers but they didn't have my size. It saves on shipping and the companies can pay their fighters more. Yes it does make it mainstream but people gotta eat.

they also sell nike and reebok at the same stores. damn now i cant wear that either. morons.

Wow!! I never knew Spencer Gifts sold Nike and Reebok too!!! We are still talking about the headline in this thread ,right? :icon_chee

actually, wouldn't the non-shipping & handling charges keep prices down? (from an idealistic point of view) and perhaps the rising gas prices played a small role in the respective companies' decisions to go into the malls?

but the choice of stores to be in-- burh? I can't say I ever expected to make a one-stop-shopping run for a pair of sprawls, a velvet dragon poster, and a whoopie cushion, but I guess I can sleep at night now knowing that if I needed to, I can. :)

a training partner came in to report seeing tapout at the local Champs store just last week. and that's here in west by god. so it must be all over.

heh. I laugh at the prospect of the chunky, non-training mall urchins trying to stalk the mall with their grip panels stuck together between they portly thighs.

Since Champs is a sporting goods store, I can see them selling MMA gear. Spencers on the other hand is a place I would go to insearch of some good gag gifts. Seeing MMA gear in there is a little disturbing.

Can you really blame them for striking while the iron is hot? Gotta get PAID!

I don't blame them at all.... I never understand why people get so upset at MMA companies for mass-marketing their merchandise.

Do people get upset when you see people wearing an NFL jersey out? Or a MLB jersey? Well its the same thing here. MMA needs fans and fans spend money, they buy PPV's. If you are a training/trained fighter or used to be one you should be happy to see our sport taking off as it does.

I don't get offended when I see a dude wearing Tapout/Warrior Wear/Sprawl/Affliction... now those big-ass Tapout car stickers are gay, but that is my opinion.

Its all about visibility... the more the companies make, the more then can put out and the more people buy. The more they buy, the more others buy and more money goes into fight sponsorships, events, promotions, etc...

Its a win-win.

I guess, Jay, for me that it's all good and well to support fighters, the sport, etc. heck yeah, I'm all for it.

it's when I'm trying to hang out in a pub and some whack job comes in sporting mma gear and claiming to be the next cage god. I see short guys in NBA jerseys, and I see skinny chicks in NFL gear-- but they don't go claiming to be on the team. if that makes any sense.

I'm sure I can think of more pertinent things to be offended or worried about though, you're right.

in regards to the choice on stores, I wonder if we're assuming a level of acceptance that isn't yet there? Maybe these were the first stores to embrace the sport and its wares. If so, good on em.

they just better not be out of my size. :)

well, low, fakes and real deals can be spotted a mile away.

easy to find out who the real deal is by asking a few questions.

I <3 Inspirit and Brazilian FightWear even more now.

At the very least I know if I see someone wearing something from one of those two companies, they'll probably know of fighters other than the latest cast of TUF.

It will get to the point where you'll just see kids wearing sprawls at the beach who won't know how to actually fight. They think it makes them look cool and tough I guess.

I can't really blame the companies for making the money while the sport is blowing up though.
