Just wondering what everyone else thought about the kick in the 5th round that cut Dantes... I didn't think it was intentional. Big John seemed pretty pissed about it and wasn't buying his, "I was just pushing off the cage" story.

Looked pretty blatant to me. I wasn't really invested in either fighter winning but it still pissed me off a bit.

it was bone headed. realistically though, it benefited dantas because it caused a standup.

I couldn't believe the way Big John was yelling at Warren like he was his kid. Completely inappropriate.

It was obviously intentional. How do you unintentionally land a kick hard enough to cause a cut?

The only people who are peeved by it are people who are mad Dantas didn't win. He did it once, not multiple times, so there's no reason to take a point. How in the hell could you know it was blatant or not? Are you Warren's brain? Glad they didn't take a point and ruin a great fight. Dantas will be back, great fight!

It doesn't make sense for it to be intentional. In a fight that was likely(and was) knotted up on the scorecards to intentionally risk giving it away in what was a stalemate position.

I think the question is should a point have been taken whether it was intentional or not? It wasn't light by any means..it was a good kick and Eduardo's face was fully exposed...plus, Eduatdo didn't really come back from it. I don't know if it was because of that but it was pretty much all Warren from then on...unless i'm mixing up when Dantas got back mount before or after the kick.

Because you don't accidentally kick the fucking shit out of someones face? He kicked hard enough to cut him.

I err on the side of brain fart. With it being an awkward position and them fighting position with their lower body.

Even though I think it wasn't intentional I could have seen the case for a point deduction because it was a decent kick and opened up a cut.

It would have been unfortunate to have fight end in a draw. If they were going to be strict about fouls in the fight then Warren would have lost the point but I also believe Dantas would've lost a point by the 2nd round for the cage grabs.

I think the rematch is inevitable either way. It was a great competitive fight but not hard to score.

I don't think it was. Why do it? He had to know they were even on the scorecards. Why risk getting DQed or losing a point? Not like BJM wouldn't notice it and at least stand them up where Dantas has the advantage (which was what happened). He wasn't going to KO Dantas with it and win. If he did KO him, he'd be DQed. I guess you could say he wanted to hurt him just enough to screw him up but not enough to lose a point, but that is too risky for too little reward. Warren is no genius, but he's not that dumb.

I kind of just assumed Warren was trying to knee/kick Dantes to the body. It was a crazy position and Joe's face was smothered into Dantes back, He couldnt see anything. Idk though.

Legit brainfart, just the position they were in was pretty damn awkward, and yeah if he would have gotten a point deduction, then Dantas should have gotten it to.

What about Dantas sitting on warren and throwing blatant strikes to the back of warrens head? but nope let's just grab the fence and show our pubes.

None of the fighters are my favs, frankly it looked blatantly intentional, despite Warren didn't had reasons to land that kick, like Curran had no reasons to knee Straus head when this last was clearly on the ground.

Very good point about Dantes grabbing the fence. Big John warned him 4,5... maybe 6 times through the entire fight to stop grabbing the cage (while Warren was trying to take him down).

Blatant kick, but Dantas grabbed the cage at least 4 times, so no big deal for me.

Warren grabbed Dantas shorts many times, Dantas grabbed the fence many times and Big "Useless" McCarthy did nothing. fucking crap ref.
