Warren's ground kick, intentional or not?

Very good point about Dantes grabbing the fence. Big John warned him 4,5... maybe 6 times through the entire fight to stop grabbing the cage (while Warren was trying to take him down).

I would love to see a highlight gif of the different ways dantas grabbed the cage. there were at least 3-4 variations including when he was on hands and knees

He had been warned numerous times up to that point about grabbing the fence, and all Big Useless McCarthy did was swat his hand away...ridiculous.

Intentional. Wasn't a dirty move though. I just don't think he realized what he was doing.

Whether intentional or not what landed was a kick to the head. He intended to do that motion, which resulted in an illegal strike. Which is easily worthy of a point deduction. Especially when you take into account all of the prior fouls that took place in the fight. Dantas also had a lot of fouls with the cage grabbing but Warren's were more frequent and overall worse in my opinion.

It doesn't make sense for it to be intentional. In a fight that was likely(and was) knotted up on the scorecards to intentionally risk giving it away in what was a stalemate position.

Warren has fought dirty in other late rounds of other fights. His excuse was a joke and that possibly made McCarthy even more mad. Very clearly intentional.

I had money on Warren and I thought he deserved to win, but yeah, it was lucky he didn't have a point deducted. Jon may have taken that point if Dantas hadn't grabbed the fence, and been warned, numerous times already.

It was either between brainfart and conscious, but it was definitely not a mistaken movement. I like Warren and I'm semi pissed at BJM for not taking a point. That was a point if I've ever seen one.

I didn't buy his excuse for a second. Overall, though, I can't care too much. It was such a foul laden fight from both sides that I'm just pushing the whole thing out of my brain and moving on.

I err on the side of brain fart. With it being an awkward position and them fighting position with their lower body.

Even though I think it wasn't intentional I could have seen the case for a point deduction because it was a decent kick and opened up a cut.

It would have been unfortunate to have fight end in a draw. If they were going to be strict about fouls in the fight then Warren would have lost the point but I also believe Dantas would've lost a point by the 2nd round for the cage grabs.

I think the rematch is inevitable either way. It was a great competitive fight but not hard to score.

Bellator has given rematches for a lot less...it'll happen unless they're afraid to let golden boy Warren lose

It was obviously intentional. How do you unintentionally land a kick hard enough to cause a cut?

Didn't cause a cut. They showed a close up replay right at the start of round 5, it was already there.

But yeah, most likely intentional.

Don't know how you can look at that gif and not see it as intentional.

Regardless he would have still won even with a point deduction.

No way, that is why it was so important.

All three judges scored it 48-47. If a point was deducted then it would have been 47-47 from all three judges, resulting in a draw.... meaning Dantes would still be champion.

Intentional? Can someone explain to me that Joe could see where Dantas head was when he brought his leg down? Wasnt like he looked at the screen and could see where the body positions were. Taking a point away from something like that would be crazy. Im not a huge Joe fan but hard to justify a DQ or point deduction based on that.

Considered all the warning BJM issued I absolutely shocked no point was deducted. It wasn't an accident it was a kick. If joe didn't know where Dantas head was is not an excuse. You are responsible for your weapons. That should have been a point.

The kick was blatant, but the piss poor reffing throughout the bout allowed it. Between Dantas grabbing the fence multiple times, and Warren grabbing Dantas' gloves or shorts multiple times, BJM lost all control. Both fighters should've had points taken throughout the fight.

I'm guessing in his moment of exhaustion and being in a weird position, he probably just forgot the rule for a second as stupid as that sounds. Probably realized as soon as he did it that he screwed up and had an internal "oh sh*t moment, realizing he might have just costed himself a point.
