Wicked Game: Devil in the Desert

Hunting the mastermind of a violent abduction, authorities unravel a twisted tale of obsession during the early days of legalized pot.

This is at the start of legalised marijuana, and went from a robbery in Newport Beach to a kidnapping and the worst thing ever in The Mojave.

If you thought the Lorena Babbit doco was bad, don't watch this.

It's (I watch every true crime doc anyone throws at me) was a proper "oh my fuck".

You didn't watch the Lorena one then. This isn't JUST about that, it's a really interesting doc but terrifying.
Admittedly I haven't watched it. There are a lot of docs and at my age I have to screen. If a doc is under 8.0 and is good based on shock factor then it's a no from me.

I haven't watched the doc but I remember this case, followed it through the papers when it was unfolding and they were going through court

Marijuana ruins lives, no doubt about it

True story: during "the early days of legalized pot" my friend/frat brother/roommate opened a weed store but never actually got properly licensed, got raided and was at one point on the lamb and wanted by the FEDs / DEA.

I have a lot of time on my hands and after finding the Netflix hidden code to true crime documentaries I screen pretty hard now too. I watched this because it was California, I live next the the Mojave and it was a Newport Beach case.

The main purpose of the thread though with this being predominantly a male led forum was as a PSA.

As a fellow Californian if you recall it all happening you'll enjoy it. Just mute the bits where you know things are going to be described. I'm not spoiling anything, it says it in the first minute all the gnarly stuff.
