Television WARHAMMER 40,000 Live-Action Series (In Development at Amazon, post #157)

You are close enough. I just know the Horus Heresy which is like 30k. It's like Berserk's main golden age arcs in terms of starting everything. 40k is when all those races are in a stalemate.

There is too much lore. There is no real good/evil. For example, you have Orks and they aren't really evil or good. They just want to fight everything. This video only sets up the timeline but not everything that happens

30k to golden arge berserk is a nice comparison but it is really more like the full berserk storyline as the betryal but griffith takes place at the begining and then it is dealing with the aftermath.

40k id say the big storyline is that the tyranids and necrons are on the rise. the humans are on the decline as well as the eldar dark and non

and there absolutley is evil that is the chaos elements. it is written in a wya though where you could view it as not being the most evil thing as it an abstract sense the force of change of death that is present in nature... but that is often set aside for cool demons and brutal storylines.
Like one of my favorite where the marines kill an entire cities populatio by hand and then flay their bodies in a giant pit and adorn their armor with cloacks made from their skins. they also captured a little girl who was terrified and basically gave her the han solo treatment to have the perfect look of hopless terror forever ingrained

Space marines are also just less interesting as the focus of a serious drama. in the fluff, a squad of them can wipe out thousands of normal enemies. Would probably look cool on screen though if done well
Very true, using them as set pieces would be great for a TV show but main characters, not so much. the IG and inquisition can give some great stories with a fantastic mix of horror, suspense and drama.

The advantage they do have though I spose is that you could go for the classic intro story from the Space Marine novel back in the day. That is a decent way to introduce the setting a bit more slowly as you have a character living on some world in the Imperium only really aware of their local environment who ends up being recruited. Might depend a bit on the chapter involved as well I spose, the Dark Angels for example I think you could have a decent plot slowly revealing the chapters history. An inquisitor series could also I spose start off fairly small although the character themselves would be more aware of the wider setting/history.

WHat I think could work very well personally is play on the differences in the imperium development wise, I think that could be something interesting that wouldnt automatically need a massive budget. So you could say have a character on a world that appears medieval and suddenly Titans are stomping across the horizon. 40K has been such a big influence on other media I think some aspects of it might come across as a little tired but we havnt really seen that kind of thing done much in recent years.

Inquisitor from Ordo Xenos investigating a a hive city and rooting out a genestealer cult would amazing. You could even have them call in a local space marine patrol for the final assualt in the under hive.

You can have the IQ on calls with the local SM Capt giving them updates through a grainy display but never seeing them several times during the series. Then have him call them in during a pitch a battle. Then 2 squads of SM come in start laying down suppressing fire as 4 Terminators deep strike into the xenos line and begin to lay waste to the horde.

Pretty pumped about this. Got some faith in Cavil. He's a massive, massive fan of the series and isn't afraid to speak his mind if he feels like the source material is getting fucked with (like the Witcher).

WH40k is one of those series where they can take an action route, horror route, drama route (Horus Heresy) and they have no shortage of enemy archetypes to go against. This has the potential the be massive.

Need an Exterminatus in the first episode just to set the tone....

How dare you! Nurgle and Slannesh are forces of good.

Papa Nurgle takes care of his children
does he though
plenty of fluff examples of him abandoning his followers once the tide turns against them.

plus once his viruses have riddled through their host there really is not much left

@Law Talkin' Guy amazing

Nurgle loves life, problem is he loves all life equally.

Living on your body, right now, there are about 40 trillion microbes. You get sick, and consumed with disease, you are bringing trillions of new lives into the galaxy!

It's wonderful... as long as you don't see it from your point of view. From your point of view, you are the most important being in the universe. All the pain, torment, disfigurement, crippling, means more than all that wonderful life.

i laughed out loud in real life, i guess technically its not wrong <Lmaoo>

but 4 da NOOBS nurgle is probably more like the force of decay leading to death and viruses are his weapons

the gods of chaos are like various representations of qualities that lead to death

He loves them but sometimes it is like how a :eek::eek::eek: will love a kid that he abused.

I feel the Chaos gods are just two sides of a coin. Nurgle is disease/rot but he is also life. His followers reach a point of suffering where it's blissful. Slaanesh is the god of butt stuff.

They gave all chaos gods "good sides"

Nurgle is the most obvious. He feeds off of the despair mortals have towards death of life, but also the hope they derive from the life that springs from death. He welcomes all and only desires that the wheel keep turning. He's described as a very grandfatherly and jovial individual,

Khorne is "honourable"(martial pride, warrior code etc)enemies must be killed in direct fair combat to gain approval and not stabbed in back, even better if they stronger than you.

Tzeentch pushes people to improve their lifes and change things

Slaneesh is... well slaneesh lets leave it at that lmao

Didn’t Abnett write for guardians of the galaxy? Get him on board and let’s do some eisenhorn or ravenor. Both. I hope it’s not SM based. They’ll be more impressive if they aren’t the focal point but only show up when desperately needed. So you can appreciate them being transhuman and all
