@Rod1 What do you have to say about Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador?
Mainstream liberals here are touting him as breath of fresh air in Mexican politics, while leftists are saying he's a reactionary privatist and just more of the same.
Breath of fresh air? nope.
Remember when i said that the PRI party turned to the neoliberal free market approach when state socialism crashed the economy? Well he was one of the individuals who broke from the party when it turned to the center-right.
So he seems to be center left, but i dont see much conviction from him, he styles himself as the new Juarez (the guy that firmly established Mexico as a republic) but Juarez was a classical liberal (gilded age capitalism).
I dont see much of an ideologue in him, he seems to be someone who wants to be president and leave his mark on the history books.
So what exactly do i think of him? better than PRI, like i think of any other candidate.
He also presented his tentative cabinet members back in december, i think in the economic aspects things wont change much, which i personally think is a good thing.
This is going to be his secretary of estate and public credit (finance minister)

His resume looks like he is a real smart, fact based economist, so i doubt there would be a hard swing to the left or right in economic terms.
He has been called a closet right-winger in social issues because he refuses to answer questions regarding social issues, but IMO thats simply because Mexicans dont care much about social issues in a pro-active manner.
So saying "I support gay marriage" wont really give you more votes by a liberal mexican but it will surely take some from you from conservative mexicans. His stance is that these social issues should be resolved based on popular consensus.
Id rather have Anaya win since im center-right personally, but i wouldnt mind AMLO.
