anyone here been in a blimp?

i imagine they're pretty safe nowadays, but it's not something you ever hear about

I imagine more of you have been in Hot Air Balloons

I remember Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow getting stuck in a hot air balloon back in the 90s

Avoided them ever since

A couple of years ago my father in law paid for me and my wife to take a short chopper ride over a vineyard.....

Gonna have to keep my eye on him from hear on out

But yeah I was super nervous, but I also don't like heights in general
The only helicopter ride I want is one like this:

Mostly cause of the payoff

your username didn't go well with "he's only got one ball" song

part of that story is true though. a childhood friend of mine - his cousin did lose a testicle in a surfing accident.

Washington Post should (but won't, given the optics) come under fire for this.

https://nypost.com/2020/01/27/washi...ia-sonmez-after-kobe-bryant-rape-case-tweets/

Last night, a WashPo reporter tweeted a link to a two-year-old story on the Kobe Bryant rape case. Dick move for sure, and she was rightfully grilled by Twitter folks. But then WashPo suspended her pending an investigation into whether her actions violated their social media policy. Her action as in....retweeting a legitimate article at an insensitive time. No allegations of lying or harassment or professional malpractice.

Well think this through to the end. Imagine a well-publicized white-on-black murder, with a journalist then re-tweeting a story about black crime rates. Wouldn't that be in line with "retweeting a legitimate article at an insensitive time. No allegations of lying or harassment or professional malpractice"?

I think adding oil to the fire in sensitive issues is not the responsibility of a journalist in most (not all) cases.

I'm not sure that's a good analogy. A journalist retweeting the victim's criminal record would be more analogous. And it happens all the time.

Yeah, I saw that. Bullshit move by the WaPo.

A more accurate analogy would be if the reporter rehashed a story of a human killing a helicopter.

The reporter was a shit level edge lord, but the WaPo punishing her is also shit tier.

Watched the first episode of Nora from Queens, and for some reason this made me laugh.

Funny how something as seemingly trivial to compare is not trivial at all. There's probably a lesson here.

Oops meant to quote proko lol

Not a whole lot more tolerance among Blacks and Muslims in a sociocultural sense, though it's less relevant politically and legislatively (US). It would seem like gheys are the only folks without a fundamental problem with anybody else, yet are hated by pretty much everyone else. I'll probably never understand it as long as I live. It also transcends and cuts through extremely divisive shit like race, ethnicity, nationality and religion. Those are all trigger points for mass death and suffering. In conclusion, heterosexuals are obviously the problem. :p

#BarbaricPhilistines
I think a lot of American Muslims, especially younger ones, are pretty tolerant of gays since they grew up feeling maligned by the GOP and have retreated to the left for safety. And part of that deal with the left means accepting progressive tenants even if they contradict the religion. But its probably very different with older Muslims from other countries who are in all likelihood more conservative. But even then its not always so simple.

I had an older immigrant Muslim lecturer at university who touched on this. He said he doesn't like how some imams take a very simplistic approach to certain issues, like just offering a blanket condemnation of homosexuality which isn't very helpful given the fact that gay people are a reality and you have to interact with them in contexts like work. In his case his boss is a lesbian so what is he to do, just act like a cunt to her or what? Of course he doesn't, actually says she is supportive of how visibly Muslim he is and they have a decent working relationship. But point is a lot of religious spaces are just immigrant enclaves that repeat very simplistic ideas of the religion that are more or less passed down within those communities.

God damn the comedy scene is at war right now over Kobe jokes.
One of the funniest guys I know, my barber, has told me more than once that he'd sooner lose a friend than an opportunity to tell a joke.

If you can make it funny by all means have at it. Ari shaffir wasnt very funny. Making really dark things funny isnt something i would say most people have a talent for

Yikes. Just looked that up.

Edgelord is the lowest form of comedy. Even lower than Jay Leno-style boomer email musings.

EDIT: Also, that dude had a video of him making out with his dog that is fucking gross. Pretty sure I hate him.

He seems genuinely disdainful of Kobe, not even trying to be funny.

I don't know much at all about the rape accusation against Kobe, how credible was it?
