But that being said, do you think that it is likely that at 3am after a night of drinking $1,000 worth of booze, this party of actors/models very politely approached the doorman about a lost ID, only to have a female member of their party shoved for absolutely no reason by the doorman, and then viciously attacked and beat down by 15 other doormen and strangers on the street?

It sounds fantastical. Seems like quite a bit could be missing from that story.

What I bet happened?

- Party leaves, shitfaced
- Lady realizes they forgot ID or CC
- Asks doorman if they can go back in to get it
- They tell her no, that they can get a staff member to find it and bring it out to them
- Male in the party does the "LET US THE FUCK IN" thing
- Doorman says no again
- Said male, or another male, does the "DO YOU KNOW WHO WE ARE?!" thing
- Doorman says "no and frankly I don't give a shit, you could be the Pope and you ain't getting in"
- One of the males takes a swing
- Doorguy drops that dude
- Other guy takes a swing, second door guy puts him down
- The females in the group start hitting the door guys and they react by hitting them back as the women are probably swinging their purses at them

I'll also add, given these people view themselves as celebrities chances are they have a small set of bodyguards. And the low end celebrities hire fucking idiots to be bodyguards so those morons probably also took a swing and when you're two door guys potentially facing 6 people throwing punches at you, you just start swinging.

I generally think mild flaming has always been allowed in the WR because it seems impossible for the average poster to remain completely civil on a consistent basis when talking about politics.

I do not agree (as you know) that it is "impossible". It's as bad as it is, because it is tolerated and even encouraged. Let's get real, the Political WR is an absolute shithole and it doesn't have to be that way in my opinion. I am perfectly capable of discussing Politics without personally attacking anyone. It would get better if people were held to a higher standard of civility and forced to at a minimum follow the guidelines that have been set by you.

Rules
Flaming- There are limits to the mild flaming that is allowed in the War Room. If you find your posts only containing flaming, you'll likely receive infractions. This is a form of derailment in which you are no longer discussing the topic at hand and choosing to just personally attack another poster.

Posts that only contain flaming and consist solely to attack another poster are beyond common in there. I could go into the Ukraine thread and quote you ten examples in a matter of minutes and not a single one of those people have ever been given infractions and in fact, I can show you exmamples where a moderator jumped on the attack wagon with them.

I'm sure a lot of the more moderate folks that would want to have an actual discussion don't go anywhere near that cesspool and well.... we get what we have now. All it would take to clean it up is to enforce your own rules.

Why do you think that?

Because again, I have personally been to Sky Room multiple times, spent a good amount of money there, etc. Those were my type of places when I was in NYC and I know the experience, I know the area very well. Sky Room is a very nice place, very upscale. It's the type of place you'd expect from a "beautiful people" reality show. Not that crime does not happen in these places as well, but the story doesn't add up for someone who has been there before.

-The place closes at 4 AM, not 3 AM. I know this firsthand. It's still pretty lively at 3 AM. So if they left at 3 AM, and they were on the guest list (assuming some other bouncer didn't recognize them), there would have been no issue going back inside to retrieve a credit card. That makes zero sense. I've forgotten cell phones, credit cards, etc being super drunk in these types of lounges and easily went back inside to retrieve them. There's more to the story there.

-There are no "thugs" at Sky Room. Even if you want to say the bouncers acted like thugs (allegedly a few of them beat them up too), there is no chance 10-15 people "joined in stomping them, calling them racial slurs". There may not have even been 15 black people in the vicinity. If it was outside, it is not an area where 15 thugs are casually walking around waiting to pounce on Lilly. This also makes no sense.

-It's NYC. No one cares what other people do. I have literally seen people casually walk by a person bleeding from their stomach on the sidewalk. There's a zero percent chance random strangers at Sky Room of all places decided to randomly jump in and stomp this lady because she was white with money. Whoever attacked them was involved with whatever drama took place that they themselves possibly initiated.

-The obvious innocent women beaten nearly to death by hooligan black dudes, but press no charges (lolz).

I could go on, but the only real thing in this story is that someone(s) physically attacked someone(s). There is no chance, 0%, that this story stays in its current version once more facts/information is revealed.

It's really nice. There's actually two bars in there. There's one that overviews the city with epic views, and the seats are alongside the window walls (the one in most the pics), but there's another one one floor under with an outside patio where you can go out with the drinks with views of the other side. That section is more of a chat section while the upper section is where you hang with larger parties. Bartenders/servers throw down if you have a party and you're treating them right, really good customer service there.

As much as it pains me to say, I sympathize with Wai in terms of presentation. I don't think the writer is insane, of course, but I think he's grating and self-righteous. Both of his pieces (the first that called Buttigieg a lying mf and the second detailing the call) were at their core about the author. Not about Buttigieg. And neither provide much in the way of suggestions. In fact, with the language about moderates being awful and not woke enough, I'm pretty surprised JVS liked it.

It's okay that it's a bit of a train wreck imo. I don't really disagree with you about it being about the author or about it not offering much for suggestions, I just liked it and think it's good for Pete that it happened.

I don’t think that they were all belligerently drunk and even if they were there is no reason they should have been beat like that, as Greg said you take them down and hold them, you don’t gang beat them and repeatedly kick and punch them.
