Fair enough. Everyone deserves a basic respect and a right to chill out here to the extent they extend that good will to others. But also note that despite its reputation among some rightwing posters, the lounge is not a safe space. Everyone's opinions and actions can and should be scrutinized.

Yes , I agree. Opinions should be scrutinized and if someone says something idiotic they should be called on it.

However, I have seen several times where a poster says something innocuous and is ridiculously misinterpreted and then the pack of piranhas come in to piggy back on this misinterpretation and nothing good comes from it.

I've seen this happen to @SBJJ a host of different times.

I wish more employed the method you do on occasion, (jack does as well sometimes)which is to ask questions, or follow up questions.

The overall piece is good, and discussion on it would be good (probably something most of the WR would be better off reading), but I was particularly calling your attention to the part about "whiteness." I think what you read as whites holding racist, anti-white views is really liberals holding anti-conservative views and identifying conservatism with "whiteness." This is something @waiguoren has also been tripped up by (started a thread expressing outrage about a statement Michael Moore--who is terrible--made along those lines). And complicating that, there's already a kind of existing language used by white nationalists to sort of create social costs for people not being racists ("race traitors," "n-lovers," "cucks," and "ethnomasochists"). So I think maybe you see that first thing and then think, "oh, those 'race traitors' that my fellow anti-anti-racists are always talking about are REAL!").
