For real, though, fuck off.

You know damn well that there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud - and to the extent that it has been uncovered it has been consistently to the benefit (purposeful or not...) of Republicans - and that, at minimum, hundreds of thousands of voters are suppressed every year. And they just *happen* to be overwhelmingly urban and nonwhite.

Hell, with the ones in Georgia, they were as brazenly and transparently aimed at partisan disenfranchisement as was realistically possible. Setting aside transcripts showing that previous efforts at the Republican National Committee-level were specifically known to disenfranchise Democrats for partisan gains, the effects are clear.

What’s wrong with verifying someone’s identity before they vote? What’s wrong with requiring at least an official ID? And if it “suppresses” certain voters who cannot verify their own identity, why is that a bad thing?

Voter suppression used to mean they kicked your ass if you tried to vote.

Most of these soundcloud artists use the same drumkits and shit, so you've probably heard that sound a lot of places. It's why I can't listen to electro much these days. Dubstep was cool with the novelty of wubs and shit, but then everyone started doing it, so I deuced out.
The only "dubstep" I'll listen to.

That mixer is legit the only "dubstep" artist I can really listen to and I think it's because you can tell he's a hard rock/metal fan.

Because it invalidates a constitutional right of hundreds of thousands of people for no functional purpose. People are less of citizens because they're poor or lack government amenities that serve no purpose other than to discriminate against them.

Voter suppression used to mean they kicked your ass if you tried to vote.

So it's not voter suppression if they suppress the votes of people on arbitrary grounds. It's only voter suppression if they beat them up too.

Gotcha. You're definitely not a dishonest hack.

TL;DR

jk jk jk

no but seriously, thanks for sharing your personal experience and the education regarding "Pow wows."

I mean, I rarely if ever used that term, and didn't know the significance behind it. after what you said above, I'll stop using it all together.

Regarding this statement you made: Better to just plainly and calmly explain that it's inappropriate. Give some education freely and without malice. People often respond very poorly regardless, because one of the deeply seeded issues with microaggressions (especially when it comes to Native culture) is that those knowingly committing them feel staunchly entitled to do so.

you're absolutely right about that.

People often react negatively, or feel challenged when you attempt to correct them, on anything.

It reminds me of this debate I was having with an ex about that film "16 Candles" with Molly Ringwald.

I like several of John Hughes's films, (Ferris Bueller's day off, Breakfast Club) but I fucking hated this film.

because of this ridiculous racist caricature of an Asian character., Long Duk Dong.

giphy.gif

Just a complete, fucking ridiculous representation of an Asian character, the butt of all the jokes, ridiculous accent...

my ex still maintiained this was "okay" and "it was funny!!" as if these were valid arguments.

anyway, I'm rambling now.

thanks again for sharing your personal perspective.
My pleasure. I appreciate that you were asking in good faith, which isn't always how discourse on the internet works lol

When I first heard dubstep, it was Doctor P. It turns out, it only went downhill from there.

I remember the bar I worked at (the shitty one last summer before I moved) had a bunch of this shit playing. Literally everyone but the one bartender that was always on Molly would be "on the clock" but we'd be outside smoking, chewing tobacco, or shooting the shit when people started playing dubstep

@Gregolian you ever listen to Musashi? Japanese prog folk rock. I've been HOOKED.

I'd put money on it that one part of this track sounds really familiar to you. Like, REALLY familiar.

Never heard of them but that opening sounds like bits of the fucking Naruto soundtrack when people are competing to see who has the best "talking no jutsu" in the series.

EDIT:
The lyrics for this song are actually incredibly sad:

Lyrics said:
In the deep dark hills of eastern Kentucky
That's the place where I trace my bloodline
And it's there I read on a hillside gravestone
You will never leave Harlan alive
Oh, my granddad's dad walked down
Katahrins Mountain
And he asked Tillie Helton to be his bride
Said, won't you walk with me out of the mouth
Of this holler
Or we'll never leave Harlan alive
Where the sun comes up about ten in the morning
And the sun goes down about three in the day
And you fill your cup with whatever bitter brew you're drinking
And you spend your life just thinkin' of how to get away
No one ever knew there was coal in them mountains
Till a man from the Northeast arrived
Waving hundred dollar bills he said I'll pay ya for your minerals
But he never left Harlan alive
Granny sold out cheap and they moved out west
Of Pineville
To a farm where big Richland River winds
I bet they danced them a jig, laughed and sang a new song
Who said we'd never leave Harlan alive
But the times got hard and tobacco wasn't selling
And ole granddad knew what he'd do to survive
He went and dug for Harlan coal
And sent the money back to granny
But he never left Harlan alive
Where the sun comes up about ten in the morning
And the sun goes down about three in the day
And you fill your cup with whatever bitter brew you're drinking
And you spend your life just thinkin' of how to get away
Where the sun comes up about ten in the morning
And the sun goes down about three in the day
And you fill your cup with whatever bitter brew you're drinking
And you spend your life digging coal from the bottom of your grave
In the deep dark hills of eastern Kentucky
That's the place where I trace my bloodline
And it's there I read on a hillside gravestone
You will never leave Harlan alive

@Gregolian I really hate how there are awesome moments in Packers history that I can't find any video of.

Like this one, where Antuan Edwards picked Terrell Owens up over his head and body slammed him. All I could find was this picture.
RTRQO1X.jpg

Or a couple of times where Al Harris pancaked receivers at the line of scrimmage. Can't find anything on those (hard to figure out the search terms).

Or a time in Detroit when Aaron Kampmann bull rushed the Lions' RT (I think Jeff Backus) and launched him into the air and on his ass.

I can't find shit on any of those.

Speaking of Al Harris, though: https://www.packers.com/news/al-harris-charles-woodson-to-be-inducted-into-packers-hall-of-fame

Nah, more familiar. Scrub to 9:50. ;)

Also fun fact, the keyboardist for Musashi did the soundtrack for Naruto, so you're not imagining that connection.

Saw that about Harris and Woodson this weekend. Top tier.

Top tier moment in NFL history too.

I know I should know where it's from but my brain is having a dumb so....

Stop repeating yourself

It was my original intention to make that one point, but I was making an otherwise serious post, and didn't want to give him the attention. But the joke was just there to be made.

I'd cop if I wasn't about to drop $3k on this MPX lol. Maybe that'll be my next buy, that looks sexy af.
Not out till 2020 so it's on my list and I'm trying to save to grab it after I pay off my truck. CZ ergos, 9mm, with a 1911 modernized takedown procedure sign my ass up.
