Lol. I wonder how many people think Ben has a good argument here.

Probably just about every single one of his (genuine) followers.

@Trotsky D&D (the game of thrones writers) reportedly off the next star wars trilogy. So they won't get to ruin that (even if the last jedi kinda give impression its already ruined)

I hate Star Wars, so I'd be fine with them ruining it.

With my luck, they'll be redirected onto a project I do care about, like a Gargoyles live action movie.

Who are you referring to? What posts? Why not address posts directly instead of fabricating positions that are easier to attack and attributing them to unnamed people?

A "hit piece" is vague, but there is a major double standard, and I don't think we've seen anything remotely as sleazy directed toward a Republican candidate (Clinton obviously got even worse).

"I mean he guy got booted out for supporting Donald Trump, the degenerate who makes fun of people at his own rallies in front of everyone. I mean doesn't any of you see the irony here?"

this was one of several posts employing the "two wrongs make a right" argument.

I"m not fabricating anything.

singling out a guy in a concert because of his race and then Kicking him out of the concert for refusing to shout "Fuck Trump" is pretty low, and uncalled for.

this was my position, nothing more, nothing else.

again, I think this would be somethign we could all agree on...but people have let partisan politics blind them to basic decency.

fuck me sideways, I hope that's the stupidest thing I read today.

Base salary increase for next year cancelled for all non-tariff (i.e. mid-level management and up) staff in my company. Sucks. I already knew how much more I'd get, and it would have been significantly more than most on my level.

I get it, though. Signs of recession looming.

For real. Other than supposed long healthcare lines, how is any of this bad. High speed rails to Alaska and Hawaii (!!), putting the economy in the hands and benefit of the workers through unions, rebuilding infrastructure, having an entire department devoted to taxing the rich

AOC's the best, free Anavar and Deca for everyone!

Do you see the irony there?

I certainly agree with this. Absent partisanship, I don't think any grown man would like Heretic-style empty trolling or would deny that the video of Trump mocking a disabled reporter actually showed Trump mocking a disabled reporter.

fuck me sideways, I hope that's the stupidest thing I read today.

Trump apologists made the exact same argument (committing the same fallacy) with regard to something Biden said, and a lot of people here totally bought it.

I thought Game of Thrones was an awesome show. One of the best ever, in fact.

Begs the question: is Shapiro dumb, or does he just think his audience is dumb?

Have you seen the last two seasons, where they fully ran out of source material?

Some of the worst writing I have ever seen. Certainly the worst writing I have ever seen on an HBO show.

In fairness, there's not much to ruin. You also have to wonder what a shit show it is over at Disney for them to just drop out so quickly.

Ain't nobody getting creative control over there. Disney just wants soulless bots to do whatever they tell them to. Hand that shit over to McG, and be done with it.

His background gives some evidence of high intelligence so I think it's more the latter. But I think he stopped honing his mental tools a while ago, and he may be legitimately behind a normal person in terms of his ability to reason.

Never saw "True Blood", eh?

No. But I would strain to imagine it had worse writing, especially given that D&D/Got S7-8 had fleshed out characters and established narratives to work with. I'm not unsympathetic to how hard it is to write from scratch. I am unsympathetic to how easy it should be to not completely destroy a fictional universe with massive plot holes, leaps in logic, betrayal of narrative themes, and abandonment of character traits.

I think the big problem was that things were way rushed, which is not to say that it would have been impossible to do a good job, but they had a challenge that was different from the challenge that they had when they started. The fact that they did so well early on deserves a lot of respect. It's not like A) the source material was so great and B) that it's easy to take good source material and create something special with it in a different medium (lots of great books were shitty movies, for example). I'm looking forward to whatever they do next.

But were they "way rushed," though? By industry standards, they certainly weren't. The show's schedule was in fact slowed down to accommodate GRRM. From December 2015 to July 2018, about 30 months, they only produced 13 episodes.

You don't have to strain. "True Blood" had far worse writing, and was plain shit all around.

While GOT certainly fell off, it's biggest crime was not being nearly as good as some of best stuff ever put to screen, like it was in it's first four seasons. The final seasons are totally watchable though, and leagues ahead of the real horrible shit out there from bad shows, and other shows that fell off, like Dexter for instance.

That's weird, the County mayor (yes, Salt Lake COUNTY's head executive is ALSO called a mayor) just announced a like $100 per year property tax increase per $100,000 in home value to account for a 2.5% increase in county full time employee wages.

season 7 still had some great scenes, drogon roasting the lannister army was a massive payoff of something that had been building up throughout the whole series.

i rewatched recently and stopped at the end of 7, it's like a family member being terminally ill, i want to remember GoT how it was before, not shrivelled up on it's deathbed
