War Room Lounge v78: Figure someone will make a thread eventually.

I had planned to get to this as well. I see you're making a rather more general point here, but I think this is a bad example to anyone but the people already primed to get off on it. As is evidenced ITT. The Trumpets manufacture their own tizzies so this one more or less isn't going to matter, IMO.

The question is, can you similarly impugn their news reporting with anything other than the occasional bit of human error?

Was Russia Gate, the collusion part that was run on a near 24 hour cycles for 3 years, an occasional bit of human error?
How about the story about Clinton saying Russia was grooming Tulsi to be a 3rd party candidate?
Everybody ran with that story for 3 days before it was corrected that she may have legitimately been referring to Republicans rather than Russians (its ambiguous). Three days because nobody listened to the statement in context? Or for sensationalism? IDK. But try putting that genie back in the bottle (she was still way out of line for calling Stein a Russian asset and inferring that Tulsi was one also).

The NYT times has to release a statement after Trump got elected that they were going to "“rededicate ourselves to the fundamental mission of Times journalism. That is to report America and the world honestly, without fear or favor.” Why would they have to do that?

do you remember who Judith Miller is?

How about the WaPo running 16 negative stories about Bernie Sanders in 16 hours in 2016?

And my point was that, in the era of Trump, where he is attacking our free press, they are continuing to be careless. They are contributing to the gaslighting of this country and doing a disservice to themselves, our country, and the idea/ trust of our free press.

Whoo hooo! My city out of the top 10 for most violent per capita cities in America! At #11 now.

In unrelated news, mundane "Medical assist" 911 calls have gone up 400% per police records

More's the pity. I'm not asking for this to happen but I guess some politician or Judge's kid is going to have to get shot in his own home by a cop for this to end, is it?

They'd probably honestly have to plug Hot Wheels, and even then people would be asking what the governor did to get shot.

I'll take "Or whatever"

The grab a beer campaign really could have done a better job with its attempt to not be exclusive to alcoholic beverages and maybe someone wants to grab a coffee or tea with a presidential candidate?

Grab a..... Drink?

No no no. Grab a beer (our lawyers insist we add or whatever here) is clearly better

It's like the MRE heater instructions lol

My take on Jack's "kill yourself" is that it's absolutely hilarious given his history and style, and that it was in jest but out of character. I love the whole thing.

Yeah, I think that was the general response from most of us. It was definitely unexpected. I'm fairly sure Lead had to do a double take. It was definitely a dumb thing to post, though, and I immediately knew once I saw it and it would be called back on for the rest of time...even though pretty much never so by the actual person at whom it was directed.

Meanwhile, it would be fairly in-character for a poster like me (although my oft-cited "fuck yourself to death" insult was actually edited from "go off yourself" because I felt the latter was in too-bad taste ) and a marked improvement in post quality for someone like Heretic.

I like her as a politician and candidate, but I honestly am not excited at all by the thought of grabbing a brew with Warren.

Only candidate I'd be down to hang with is Kamala Harris because she's a flirty minx and seems like a genuinely fun person.

I inserted it in at the last minute because I thought it was a funny amplifier to "delete your account" (in a broader, more-serious post) because it would be atypical from me. I don't think it was a big deal or anything other than it being misread (oh, and apparently his wife reads the group, too, so that's another issue). It's weird that we're talking about it over a year later.

@Jack V Savage

You know how we were talking about how we suspected or would like to think major political figures like Obama and Bill Maher would appear if contributing to a message board - hoping that they would come off as reasonable, intelligent, free-thinking, and self-scrutinizing?

Well, I think Mitt Romney's fake Twitter account grants some insight into what he would be like. He made the account to exclusively defend his own character and and sing his own praises.

Frankly, I think supposing that any prominent Republican politician is or would appear to be intelligent and reasonable is silly at this point.
