There are different possible definitions. For the sake of argument here and condensing as much as possible, what I think we're looking at is the belief that society should evolve organically and that tradition carries wisdom that is not easily articulated that should be respected.

The thing is, I think it's just a matter of objective truth rather than some kind of difference of opinion. But we can agree that your definition of the "American right" doesn't apply to the American right (that is, the real political movement that is solidly behind Donald Trump) and does apply to the American left.
