I like Inga better than most and I actually think to an extent her point here is valid, that false accusations have been weaponized agaisnt blacks. But the whole "Democrats are the real racists/KKK" shtick is pretty dishonest, I don't anyone anyone really makes that point in good faith. I think part of the reason its used is to create a side tangent in the case someone feels compelled to correct it. Now you've shifted the conversation to talking about the history of the KKK and who the South flipped instead of whatever else was the topic.

So now you know why leftists avoid those threads, they attract the worst posters.

I did not say that Dems are the "real" racists, nor was I suggesting that Repubs aren't racist. You are the one putting those words in my mouth, which is a dishonest habit of yours. The Dems certainly have historically done many racist things, which should be acknowledged. Isn't acknowledging our racist past the reason for the NYT's 1619 project? So why are the Dems always given a pass when they are at the thick of some of the most egregious racists moments in our history. Using false rape accusations to lynch blacks was a common tactic in Dem heavy areas during the Jim Crow era. Are you factually disputing that? That's why, to use an example from literature, To Kill a Mockingbird was about the intersection of racism and false rape accusations. It's why Clarence Thomas remarked when he was being falsely accused of sexual misconduct that it was a high tech lynching.

In this era of 'believe all women', why should we ignore the very ugly and racist history of that kind of thought in the US? If there is an erosion of the presumption of innocence, it isn't judges who went to Yale who are going to suffer most from it. It's going to be inner city blacks and other disadvantaged demographic groups. But the left is content to directly attack the presumption of innocence in the context of such accusations for political gain. It is utterly cynical, and you supported it anyway.

The part where you had no honest moral foundation, so you imputed the crimes of past conservatives to modern liberals. You know, the part where you can't honestly defend or grapple with the legacy of your own ideology, yet you also can't resist pinning it on other people. Tying modern Democrats - which represent multiracial Northern liberals - to the Democrats of the Confederacy - which represented the same racist Southern white conservatives that are the engine for your movement now and for whom you shamelessly carry water - is no less dishonest than the "Hitler was actually a leftist - socialist is in the name!" morons.

Not only did you venomously compare a credible accusation which merely didn't (and couldn't ever) meet your standard of proof to racial lynchings, but in the process you also tried to blame those racial lynchings on liberals.

Also, can you imagine how up in arms you and your dumb shit contemporaries would be if liberals compared criticism of Kamala Harris or Barack Obama to the political torture and murder of people for being white? They'd do more than just politely point out that it's insensitive to the families and descendants of those persons tortured and murdered for being white.

1. I did not do any such thing. I noted a pattern by a party. It's a tool that's been in the tool box for a long time.

2. Also, why do you guys take these discussions out of the threads they are being discussed in and bring them into the Lounge? Is it a safe space thing?

3. Ford's accusations were laughably flimsy. None of the witnesses she named corroborated it. Let that sink in. Folks gave her the benefit of the doubt and had the FBI look into it. And there was nothing substantial to her story or to the stories of Kavanaugh leading gang rape parties.
