i heard today there have been hundreds of thousands of OD deaths since this shit started , you think the right wingers and family values types would be screaming about it, but nope....

Never understood the appeal of opiates. Can't stand the stuff, even just using it to get to sleep through pain.
Is it mostly that there's a drastically increasing number of users, or that a larger percentage of users are dying?

I saw some right winger include it in a huge copy pasta list of stuff Trump ''accomplished'': addressed the opioid crisis.

Oh, it's been addressed has it?

It's been addressed in the sense that so many junkies have already died that we might start to see a slow decline in opioid mortality over the next few years.

Looks like fentanyl is fucking people's shit up.

oh man, I'm having Greasegate flashbacks. The Heavies were not friendly to Penn fans.

lets not act like penn fans were an easy bunch to get along with before then.

the big pharma companies started developing new synthetic opiods, much stronger than older types, docs in the US and drug companies and distributors were incentivised to over prescribe massively , cos ...profit, creating a huge wave of new addicts , attempts to stem the tide and raise enquiries including investigation by the DEA were suppressed , cos...corruption, as they were 20x stronger than older pain meds huge numbers overdosed, mexican cartels got into the action, and looong after the horse bolted they are finally making noises about closing the stable door and holding people accountable.

Anyone think this was justified? The only thing this guy said that was combative was I want a supervisor and this female cop pulled a gun to his head.

Is it weird that my folks want me to let them know when I get home from work? Like, shoot them a text when I leave the office and another when I get home.... I live in Utah and they're in Washington so other than calling people I know here to look for me dead on the side of the road there isn't a whole ton they can do for me.

I text my mom for the same reason, If I don't they think the worst has happened

When I was in the hospital for an infection (they had to cut an abscess open) like 2 years ago the first night there they offered me Dilaudid after asking what my pain level was at on a scale of 10. I told them it was like 4 but I'd like something to help sleep as it was super uncomfortable so they hit me with like a half dose of Dilaudid.

Before that weekend in the hospital I never understood how people could get hooked on an opiate (I'd taken hydros and Vicodine and shit for like tonsil removal and wisdom teeth and a knee surgery but it never felt like it did anything to the point I'd have 20 pills and only use like 4). That Dilaudid hit my arm and I could feel this cool feeling go through my entire arm and like over my body.

Next morning they asked if I wanted some more and I was like "NO, get me a bottle of Motrin"

Shit straight up scared me.

I was trying to think of a fight that made some sort of sense with his career and that he can win.

Jens Pulver III?
Gomi II?

Andy Wang? I'm serious...maybe just roll out one of the guys from TUF 5 that never made it

As far as makes sense for all parties and can let BJ actually win. CM Punk

I feel bad for the people that legit suffer from chronic pain that now get a non refillable script for 10 pills

Pedulum always swings back harder than it should before leveling out.

Back in 2006-2009 when hockey messed me up and I had quite a few surgeries, I always thought it was ridiculous they'd give me a bottle of 30 pills each time. when I only needed more than ibuprofen for a day or two after the surgery. I even got oxycotin after I had my wisdom teeth taken out (they had to cut into my guns, but still)

So both a lot more users and stronger drugs with a lower OD threshold. Nasty.
Thankfully I have no inclination towards addiction to the stuff. I was popping meloxicam and oxycontin like tictacs the last time I had a major back injury, and as soon as I could sleep through the night without them (took a few months) I stopped cold. No issues.
