Yeah, that was pretty good. I mean, he didn't go particularly deep with any of the issues, and there are certainly both conservative and liberal arguments against some of them, but I agree with most all of his positions (and the objectives stated by Sanders). I appreciate his rhetoric on the death penalty as well: that's how the issue needs to be framed for laymen that are understandably motivated to favor the death penalty when they hear of particularly heinous criminals. The absolutist "the death penalty is immoral" argument is a big old loser.

One policy area where Sanders is really lacking imo and that reaches across the aisle is anti-corruption. For me personally, one of the first things I would do as president is offer federal grants to states that adopt rigid anti-corruption laws that steeply penalize things like accepting bribes in public office, suppressing evidence by a prosecutor, planting evidence by a cop, because they are incalculably corrosive to public trust in government. Given that there is definitely an appetite for anti-corruption, as evidenced by Trump's success on that point even if it was completely disingenuous, I'm disappointed that no Democrats have broached the subject.

I read the books as a kid but don't have any interest in fantasy as an adult. But what I've found really interesting about LOTR/Tolkien as an adult is how he wove his Catholic faith into his stories.

For real, though, Game of Thrones is an exception. Also it reallllly sucked when it went full-on fantasy rather than human drama. If it were up to me, there wouldn't be any dragons or White Walkers. It would just be political character drama.

Couple days ago there was another poster saying the same kind of nonsense.

Was openly hoping for a civil war so he could kill some liberals.
