I’ve read a compilation of stories of the clash of cultures in Europe long before it became this politicized.

Even left-wing media reported in the 60’s about North Africans harassing women at public pools. It’s 2019 and nothing has changed.

Since that thread is about the kid being pushed in front of the train, I brought this here.

If you want my take on it, it seems like people are coming to Germany or Europe in general with ''fresh eyes'' and they ask the question ''what is anyone going to do if I feel up that german lady?'' And lo and behold, there is no manifest consequence the way there might have been just a few short decades ago. We live in a pax that relies on implications, mere spectres, of force that are so distant that they essentially don't exist. So they do it, cuz why not?

When you read about the Dusseldorf thing that's really the dynamic that's playing out. The staff tried to give them orders, they said no. The security gave them orders, they said no. Finally the police had to show up and fuck them up. Ultimately, cultural norms have that end to them or they cease to exist: if you don't respect them, someone will fuck you up. But we have largely eschewed that from our culture, as the west in general, as vigilantism. But it used to be part of our culture, and it's codified into law in several places: for example, ''fighting words.''

They can get pretty damn vocal though.

True. The one my dog plays with is yappy as fuck. My dog barely ever barks. He sounds pretty scary when he does though. He has a booming, growly bark, but he is the most harmless, helpless, clumsy golden retriever.

Goldies are goofs in general. My last Akita would bark at my dad's truck well until he was like 13 I think partially to tell the whole house "HEY, truck's home!" and shit like that. Other than that he rarely barked.

Literally me and my friends when we play this game. Lots of yelling about nonsense back and forth over this.

Russian Opposition Leader Alexei Navalny Feared Poisoned

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny remained hospitalized for a second day Monday and his physician said he may have been poisoned.

Details about Navalny’s condition were scarce after he was rushed to a hospital Sunday from a jail where he was serving a 30-day sentence for calling an unsanctioned protest. He was arrested several days before a major opposition rally on Saturday that ended with nearly 1,400 people arrested.

Tensions were high in Moscow on Monday as dozens of protesters remained in custody and the opposition called for a new rally over the weekend.

Access to Navalny is restricted, and Dr. Anastasiya Vasilyeva, who has been Navalny’s physician for several years, managed to see him only Sunday afternoon. Doctors at the hospital initially said that Navalny was taken in with a severe allergy attack but Vasilyeva said that the swelling and the rash on his face could be consistent with chemical poisoning.

At least 21 people, including Navalny supporters and journalists, were briefly detained outside the hospital late Sunday.

Vasilyeva said that hospital officials who diagnosed Navalny with an allergic reaction refused to run necessary tests on him. Vasilyeva said that she would be allowed to visit Navalny again later on Monday.

The source of the allergic reaction or poisoning was not immediately clear. But Navalny ally Leonid Volkov on Sunday complained about “anti-sanitary conditions” at the detention facility where he had been detained before. And Navalny is not the first opposition figure that President Vladimir Putin is suspected of having poisoned.

Navalny has been the Kremlin’s most formidable foe since 2011 when he led a massive wave of protests against Putin and his party. He has since been convicted on two sets of criminal charges, largely regarded as politically motivated, and spent numerous stints in jail for disturbing public order and leading unsanctioned protests.

Baton-wielding police on Saturday wrestled with protesters in the largest unsanctioned protest in Russia in a decade. Opposition activists and ordinary Muscovites took to the street to vent their anger over officials’ decision to exclude a dozen independent candidates from the ballot for the vote for the Moscow city legislature.

More than 1,400 people were arrested on Saturday, including several would-be candidates. Two of them, Ilya Yashin and Dmitry Gudkov, faced a court hearing later Monday.

I love the proud look. Like when a cat has caught something and has that possessed, wild animal gloss over their eyes. Animals are awesome.

I for some reason can't do dogs that are "skinny" like that or a greyhoud. I'm always worried their legs are going to break super easy.

Yes, I realize the bones in an Akita or Malamutes leg's aren't much bigger but all the fur makes them seem "thicker".
