That's adorable. I've already said that cougars are one of my favorite cats, rally jealous of the few people who have "domesticated" one(I use air quotes because I don't think they are truly domesticated in the way a dog or even a house cat is). IIRC they are largest cat not in the Panetherinae(big cat) subfamily.

I had heard about something like that happening to sharks after Jaws but people did the same to hyenas after Lion King? For some reason that just seems extra retarded. At least Jaws was a horror movie, how is a kids movie going to inspire you to kill innocent animals?
I'm searching for the conservationist who mentioned this, but I overstated the facts. It was more about how hyena conservation is hard to make popular because of both the Lion King and nature documentaries using emotional language and making them out to be scavengers.

Well, alligators (we don't have crocs here), but yeah. That happened with some other movie here a while back, but I can't remember what it was. I didn't know that about hyenas. That's fucked up. Can't a guy just be a creepy, cackling, mohawked weirdo in peace?
Well depends on what you mean by "here" because there is such a thing as the American Alligator but its range only overlaps with the US at the tip of South Florida.

To go back to the scenario of the movie it would be believable that certain areas in South Florida hit by a severe hurricane could see one of these crocs. They prefer brackish water and dwell mostly on coasts but will also reside in river systems. They are even more shy of people then gators but a storm could conceivably make certain areas normally populated by people more enticing given they'd be evacuated and flooded.

Actually there have been some more sighting of these crocs near people lately, its thought that this might be because as their population grows the smaller crocs have to venture out to find territory that is less desired by the larger ones, namely more populated areas.

I never liked the Lion King anyway. Why didn't Scar just kill Simba instead of exiling him and then sending those poor hyenas after him? That's what a real lion would've done anyway.

Also, the circle of life where everything has a place, except those fucking hyenas they can fuck right off into a ghetto.

Scientists don't think cats were really domesticated, they just sorta started living around us.

This is a wildcat, for example. Doesn't seem different at all from a house cat.

The whole point is that Scar wasn't a real lion in his heart. Duh.

He's a coward.

Yes I have heard of that, which is why I said "or even a housecat" to denote that they're not that domesticated when compared to a dog. Even if you do consider them domesticated my understanding is they are one of the most recent animals to have been domesticated.

I think its the most popular film from the Disney Renaissance era but I always thought it was overrated. Mulan was always my favorite from those films.

I find the Lion King very boring with too much singing. I don't know why the hyenas have to live in exile like that, they don't do that much wrong imo except attack Lions but I thought that was the circle of life??? Why does Musafa exclude an entire species from his kingdom?

Hyenas are known to vote Republican.

oh shit just had an earthquake
decent size too

Cali aftershocks or something else?

Also, I forget the name, but we've got at least one lounge poster here in New Orleans. How you doing with Barry and flooding so far?

I only now understand why it's named "lemon party" it's because those old men are wrinkled like lemons, right???

Yeah I felt the same. Something about hyenas has always fascinated me and it bothered me that they were all cast in this dark light. Sure they steal kills from lions sometimes but lions do that to leopards and cheetahs all the time.

Also I tend to prefer animated movies with human characters instead of ones with animals despite the fact that I loved nature documentaries even as a kid.
