Maybe this is common knowledge, but why was Kimbo Slice released from the UFC after one loss to a decent fighter in Matt Mitrione?

He was a massive, massive draw and undoubtedly would have produced at least a couple more lucrative losses. As a matter of conservative financial decision making, it would seem that Dana and co would have kept him on for at least a couple more fights against low level contenders. In more cynical terms, I would have expected Dana to keep him around for years longer with tailor-made fights.

Dana tried the tailor fights with Houston Alexander.

Houston was basically a brawler, an undersized heavyweight (fought at lhw) version on Kimbo. It was a match made for Kimbo to win in spectacular fashion.

Houston however was also bit more skilled than KS and fought a very smart although boring fight. He did not brawl, he threw leg kicks and ran away. You could hear Kimbo saying to Bas of all people in between rounds, what do I do to stop those kicks?

Kimbo somehow won because he got one takedown and some gnp in the last round. BS decision. I’m sure Dana was like, this is a waste of time.....

Kimbo got his ass handed to him in a punches only brawl with Shannon Gannon.

He did not belong in the UFC.

This put me down an adorable deadly rabbit hole. I read that Labradors have been used to socialize captive cheetahs, to help them develop healthy behaviors. Also didn't know that they were not big cats, and that they were once essentially domesticated by Egyptians. Always thought of cheetahs as something to never ever fuck with, like lions.

I enjoy the chat thread. I've been posting more and more here. War Room isn't as bad as people make it out to be. You just gotta know how to play the game. Think about it. We play the game yanno. Others though... Yanno lmao
