He was an entertaining speaker, but I'd deny "brilliant" and exactingly logical. And he was a layman. Fun guy but not a serious thinker or anything. What he really was, IMO, was a master bullshitter.
 
bought the borderlands pre-squeal. For 4 bucks it better be good.

Christopher Hitchens?

Jeez, I disagree. I don't even know that I'd call him an entertaining speaker, but he was a great rhetorician and writer.

This is one of my favorite Hitchens speeches, where he elucidates the reality and enduring relevance of socialism as tied to the contradictions of capitalism that socialist ideology uncovered and which even the most haplessly post-socialist defenders of capitalism have adopted into their vocabulary in attempting to dispel socialism and articulate defenses of capitalism as the end of human development and of its most brutal and barbaric inward (wage slavery, permanent underclasses, monopolization) and outward (outlandishly odious debt, anti-democratic foreign policy, economies in trade-driven arrested development) contradictions as accurate reflections of civilization's conscience and as "the best that we can do," and even as capitalist systems seek to suffocate the very ideological presets that led to capitalism.

 
The mods should require an account be a year old before it can post in the warroom.

And there used to be rules like this; you had to have x amount of posts, or be here for a certain amount of time before you could get an av, or post in the OT.

It is not. The gravity mechanic is annoying, the environments suck, and the humor falls flat.

It's was just a cheap cash grab imitation.

Turns out that when intelligent people grow up, they stop being conservatives.
