Tagged Gandhi and JVS because they mentioned before how frustrating and weird it is that regular people, but especially Republicans it seems, can't seem to grasp the concept of a marginal tax rate.

I tried explaining how tax rates work to somebody a couple weeks ago (he was complaining that a raise would lose him money). He just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I think he concluded that I was lying as part of some dastardly liberal plot.

Oh man. I like her and appreciate some of her stuff, but that is pretty brutal and a bad mistake. I wouldn't have known better myself but I would hope that I would ask an expert first.

I was talking to an accountant who didn’t understand it and as soon as I realized what was going on, I was very very sick and concerned for them. I’m certain my face went flush too. I get most people just don’t think it through/know but that guy should’ve known.

Ouch. I had to take a little accounting and one of the first things the instructor did was make sure that we all knew that. It was literal day one, 101. I appreciated it.
