Their first star was Happy Jack Chesbro, which is a pretty good name, too.
If you ever consider changing your handle....

I'd like to see sports teams adopt practical home safety advice as their team names.

The Kansas City Wear A Mitt When Reaching Between Hot Oven Racks, or the San Antonio Don't Try To Catch A Dropped Can Of Soup With Your Foots.
Helpful, and still rolls nicely off the tongue. Well done.

My choice of drink is a dirty Tito's martini.....although I'm kinda bored with it at this point  The olive juice has a negative carb count though!

As far as the movie club!

We really, really, really miss you.

This week we have to choose from Armenian fairy tales from last century .

Oh and here is the smoked fish dip recipe....I up the horseradish and skip the dill.

Lol.

Awesome, thank you. Both recipes will be tried this week.

I appreciate being missed, but an Armenian fairy tale isn't exactly enticing me to come back  Seriously, though, I'll return when I can commit again and give it the attention you fine people deserve. I'll be the hero you need, or nothing....

Also, sin taxes are among the very best taxes, and the revenue is only part of the benefit. If you tax something, you usually get at least somewhat less of it. Again, I wouldn't expect a total overnight change, but I think the ideal is a gov't entirely funded by sin taxes, land-value taxes, and estate taxes, with maybe income taxes that start at the top rate. And a large SWF to provide a UBD.
What would be your ideal estate tax?
When you apply sin taxes funding programs not related to the “sin”, the decrease in revenue could cause an effect where government finds their next alternative sin to tax/ penalize. I don’t find that healthy but I suppose in your scenario, you could just raise the other taxes you mentioned.
Or use the sin taxes to seed and bolster the SWF so that even if they provide less revenue overtime the fund could be sustainable enough to not need it as much.

Unless it's a Targ... cause then you're wondering why your hair is on fire when you ask if she's ready the second time.

Any of you watch Veep?

Even though GOT has been utter dog shit in its final season, the finale of Veep was tremendous. The nature of the show was really resilient to going downhill too.
Haven't watched the later seasons of Veep, but I remember an interview where the writers/creators of the show were saying that it was really difficult to make satire in the post ironic current administration.

It's a really great show. I haven't seen the finale yet, though.

The cops will still shoot him

Can we just take a step back for a moment and admire how fucked up it is that you need to put up billboards in front of your home pleading with the state to not accidentally execute mentally handicapped minorities?

The cop might accidentally think it's her house

I hate seeing shit like that. It’s really easy for me to get defensive, but all I can do is my best in my own little corner of the world.

I'm pretty sure we are both skipping next week. This week was my nominations and Bad Times at th El Royale won. Rewatched it last night with the husband, and it was loads of fun. Hopefully it will lead to a good discussion. Last week the old Thomas Crown won, and there were a total of 12 comments. So the Club is all over the place.

Looking forward to your eventual return!
