When you say that slavery was the core of it, you can replace the word slavery with money. Because that was the bottom line.
This is a distinction without a difference. Of course slavery was about money. People weren't buying slaves because they wanted a hobby.

You're pulling from a playbook that went out in the early-mid 1900's, Capbud. We've been over this.

Make the thread bud. If y’all want to prove me wrong, do it.

Let’s debate it. Make the thread if you want to put you pride where your mouth it.

I'd rather not waste my time with a tribal historical revisionist and I'd rather just ridicule you in the OT thread when appropriate for it.

Release the report reports and let's see who the tattlers are

I'm legit interested. I've been reported a whole heap of times. The left wing here doesn't flippantly accuse people of being reporters and we also don't have a morally flexible ally in the booth, so I really have no concept whatsoever of who is reporting. But I have to believe, given the American right's history of accusing others of things they are doing, it's some of the ones crying foul.

I'm stuck clerking a Dependency trial... my brain hurts so damn bad now.

Yeah, my only knowledge of the stuff is what i learned from studying for the bar. I used to know a little from my undergraduate, but it's been too long.

What’s funny is you brought up the Confederate thing in here, not me. So, don’t come at me like I’m peddling my point of view. Obviously y’all want to talk about it.

Start a thread and we will see who can produce the most proof as to who is right.

I remember I was thinking if I got through law school about going to work for a State's AG office doing Dependencies... at least when I first started my current job doing Dependency....... but all I saw was the day to day shit.

This trial? Nope, I'm going to be a scumbag prosecutor. At least then SOME of the people I throw in a dark corner deserve to belong there.

Are we really going to play the fucking report game in here? I'm sure there is shit that should get reported, but we should all probably have thicker skin if we are going to discuss political BS.

Nothing to tell. You don't report anyone

Question, some mods see reports as helping them do their job. You don't seem to agree. Generally speaking, though, is there a general ''mission statement" that defines what mods on this site are expected to do? I am not talking about specifics from the mod booth regarding when to intervene, rather: what is regarded as the general purpose of a mod on this site?

It’s called the war room for Christ’s sake.

I've reported myself for posting something in the wrong thread and couldn't find the way to delete the post or when the system glitches and double/triple posts.

Seems like quite a difference if you're ending slavery out of ethics vs. financial gain.

There's no "proving wrong". You're thesis is unsound because your analysis is built on/around normative judgments, but "proving wrong" isn't really how it works. It's structural issues with the argumentative approach itself, in addition to less-than-stellar critical analysis (or lack thereof). This is what happens when people "self-educate". That book I recommended, Impending Crisis, would do a lot of good here. You're entitled to whatever historical prerogative you want, but the entire field has left you behind several decades ago in booting out the revisionist, apologist nonsense.
