GOAT actor with no iconic roles? :(

Or a shining example of the limits of pretentiousness?

I actually didn't like his character in Blood for Oil at all. I thought I was the only one. Not in a ''he's supposed to be unlikable'' kinda way, but it just didn't work for me. It was way too much.

Essentially, are traps gay?

I think the Bailey Jay vs Buck Angel question answered this convincingly years ago. If you chose Buck Angel because he has a vagina, you gay.
Not exactly. My question is whether men being into "chicks with dicks" (or even post op) is a discrete sexual orientation. I think that it must be. Most men attracted to trans women report being straight (no gay or bi attraction), and an almost equal number report being bi.

Yet it's not well studied or part of the main discourse in these LGBTQ+ times, and that's very out of place when you think about all the attraction of straight men to trans women.

I dunno, his superfans can come off as pretentious, but he's definitely a good actor, even if a lot of his movies put me to sleep. Seems like he only chooses roles that interest him and I can respect that. I'm a big fan of Bill The Butcher, obviously. I think @Lord Coke was paraphrasing him so I figured the gif was appropriate.

Well it's not at all clear to me what sexual orientation actually is. From the Buck Angel Bailey Jay question we know that it's not an attraction to chromosomes and genitalia. Is it then an attraction to secondary sexual characteristics or the ''gender performance''? I would say no again, because even though the question forces a reversal of the position ''traps are gay'' and a majority of straight men would still find trans women attractive if they didn't know about their junk, given free and total knowledge of the entire scenario both biological and performative, most of these men would also not pursue a sexual relationship with a trans person. But that still is unsatisfying because even if those things correspond to one another, it can still not imply sexual attraction. So you could have a situation where you would be attracted to an XY person with a penis more so than an XX person with a vagina, but not wish to pursue a sexual relationship with either, but would also chose the XY over the XX if really forced to the issue.

It's a big mess.

It's only a mess if you want to make a mess out of it. What's wrong with people just being into whatever they're into (provided it's consensual of course)?

Oh, I'm not interested in telling people what they can or cannot be into. The question was about a descriptive issue, not a normative one.

Not to my knowledge we hale from a small farming village in Southern Germany and moved to Northern Indiana in the late 1800s.

I thought it meant hill, but it actually means stream. Seems to be a saxon word. I thought it meant hill because that's what it means in Swedish or Danish (but not Norweigan for some reason). But in german and Dutch, ''beek,'' (connected through low saxon) it's stream.

Congrats up there @Lord Coke

On an entirely different note, a question that doesn't fit in any forum here very well:

Is trans-orientation its own sexual orientation, or is it just a kind of bisexuality or homosexuality? Or is it an un-categorized kink?

I ask because a lot of men who are not gay or bi seem to be okay with convincing-looking m-to-f trans people (both pre & post). Personally I think if the technology were to improve...well, it's not quite there yet, but it could be.

Thoughts? LOL.

I think @Prokofievian nailed a few important points, especially with regard to the backtracking of the locus of sexual stimuli from bodies to genitalia to chromosomes in current discussions.

No one's attracted to a chromosome; I think we can agree on that. Even attraction to genitalia seems difficult to assess given their frequent concealment over our history. That leaves some combination of secondary sexual characteristics and gender performance.

Mostly I think the question suffers from buying into a sharp homo/heterosexuality distinction. Personally I think the spectrum of actual desire there is or very easily could be is much more mixed than what we see behaviourally, due to cultural prohibitions.

There's room for fetish play there too, but my hunch is that a lot of men are gayer than they think and manipulating the categories of stimuli via tech creates strange new groupings we haven't been taught what to think about.

Part of what makes those discussions fascinating: given an extremely attractive feminine body with a penis (by whatever means, think Carmen from IASIP), are you gayer for being into someone with a penis or for mentally rejecting the rest of the feminine form because of the penis? There's no clear answer despite a whole lot of ego being on the line.

I thought you were on appeal with the taser issue. Am I just mis-remembering that, or is this a different case?

Brock Lesnar vs Kyle Maynard.

I used an MMA forum before this one and one of my friends knew I did so he made an account on the site and intentionally baited me into a Brock v. Faber discussion. He brought it up a week later and I could believe I feel for such trolling. I don’t even think I knew what trolling was at the time.
